If they had kept Nate McMillan, they could be a playoff contender next season. As it stands now, they won't.

    Per Sir Jackie Chiles:

    "Overpaid."

You are so right. The Rockets broke *ss could not afford him. He would be a very good fit here though- an athletic banger. 3 years is not a long time to be committed. This is less than the 60 mil Denver is paying Nene, or the 57 mil Indiana is paying Al Harrington.

I wish we had a mobile banger....We do not

So, wait, we signed Stromile Swift to a 4-year, $22 million contract last year.
The Sonics signed Wilcox for 3 years, $24 million this year.
Nene signed for 6 years, $60 million this year.

And somehow, there was zero trade market for Stro, a big man who makes on average $2.5 million less than Wilcox and $4.5 million less than Nene?

I think Swift's contract was 5 years, 30 million, but your point stands.

Swift had value. That is why Memphis wanted him in the deal even given their not parting well just the year before.

It's not that bad of a contract.

If he busts, he becomes a sizeable expiring contract in 2 years.

IMO, if Wilcox is confident enough to take on a short term contract, then he's high enough on himself to think he can make it to be a star. Look at how young he is, and he's not gonna just slack off on 3 years of good contract to turn into crap. With that said we should have gotten him. He would have solved our PF and backup C problem.
