Does anyone else find it odd that they would relegate the Ryder Cup coverage to the last half of SportsCenter? You think if the US team wasnt getting hammered that badly, it would have made the first 5 minutes of the show.

I remember in 1999 and the last Ryder Cup, it made the highlights almost right away.

Time for ESPN to have some "fair and balanced" coverage.

ESPN did coverage of the Dream Team when they were losing, so I don't think it's a case of ESPN "protecting America". I just think it's a case of ESPN being more interested in College and NFL football, the baseball pennant chases, and Bonds pursuit of 700 homeruns and beyond.

Does anyone really care about the Ryder Cup? It's not exactly a major sporting event in most of America's eyes is it? Doesn't seem like it to me. It's not one of the major sports, and it's not a major in the sport of golf. And it's a team event aberration in a normally individual event sport. Maybe I'm totally off base, but I don't see why it would warrant more coverage.

Also, if it got more coverage from ESPN last time, did they broadcast it then? They tend to heavily promote events they broadcast with better spots on Sportscenter.

ESPN is run by the same owners of ABC. Since ABC is doing Rydercup coverage, it's natural to assume they'll make the brunt of their highlight coverage go towards ESPN for self promoting.

The same goes for anything that ESPN or ABC covers. If either of the shows was airing a sporting event, it'll get the most coverage during SC. That's all Sportcenter has turned into. Nothing but an advertising show with highlights. I miss when Sportcenter used to be good. Not that they ever really gave the Houston teams much love in the first place, but atleast their biasness towards other teams wasn't as blatantly noticable.

Who cares? This isn't politics. Nobody wants to see us get blown out of a golf event. They put stuff on the air that people want to see.

Well its audience is primarily american so i'm not sure why they'd want to harp on the assbeating we're taking to the europeans. its sports coverage for crying out loud, not pulitzer prize winning political coverage.

maybe because this is the USA?

This is just as dumb as the people who complain that NBC's Olympic coverage is American biased.

NBC showed every minute of the American's pathetic performance in the Ryder Cup.
