Weird - you would think Battier would be the obvious choice. Maybe they're trying to give Joey some extra responsibilities in hopes it will help with his maturing.

Or maybe the players just wanted to go on vacation and not deal with the meetings so they stuck Dorsey with the task.

That's probably it. The other players are probably laughing their asses off.

Whats sad is they don't understand how important that is. I mean the union rep keeps everyone informed about labor negotiations and such and for the rockets to select a fringe player like dorsey is irresponsible to say the least.

That was my reaction. They're headed in labor negotiations where the league wants to dramatically cut players' salaries and institute a hard cap, and they're going to pick a young guy who hasn't been with the team half the year as their rep? If all the teams have this attitude about their labor contract, they are going to get killed by the league lawyers.

Part of me thinks that they did it purposely and/or as joke on Dorsey. Hah, Dorsey gets no love on this team. First Rafer, then this lol

not to mention the likelihood that dorsey's minutes have been a showcase for a trade.

the thinking might have been "let joey be the rep over the all star break so we all get a vacation. when he's traded will pick someone for real."

I think someone like yao would've been a great rep. He's a stand up guy and would take it very, very serious.

Maybe this move was to get Dorsey fired up to crack some skulls when the scabs try to cross the picket line during the next players' strike. With Dorsey, Chuck and Lowry manning the picket line, Houston will NOT have a replacement team.

I agree. It just sounds like nobody else wanted to go and they sent him. Kind of like when I first got my driver's license and my mom used to send me to the grocery store all the time.

Do the reps of each team actively participate in the meetings, or is just Billy Hunter doing most of the work?

The reps don't do jack. Do you really think a team filled with smart, well-informed guys is going to send a knuckle head if there are any real responsibilities that come with the position?

The reps are suppose to bring back info discussed at meetings. If you don't think the info that will be exchanged for the next labor negotiations is important, then you're sadly mistaken.

So you believe the entire roster of Rockets players don't care about their future and would prefer to send a space cadet to the meetings as a joke or out of laziness? Sorry, not buying it.
