Whatever, it's ESPN and they even acknowledge that we have no cap room , but here's what they said in their "Guide to the Free Agents":

"Sonics forward Rashard Lewis: According to Lewis associates, home to Houston is where he'd like to go. Problem there, though, is that the Rockets have no cap room, which means they'll have enough trouble keeping Cuttino Mobley. Lewis is a restricted free agent, but Seattle can only lose him if some team beats its maximum-allowable offer of $3.8 million. Orlando and Chicago are the only teams that can."

    On Croshere:

"Pacers forward Austin Croshere: Rose and Croshere are the Pacers' future. Just like with Jalen, Indiana can't afford to lose him. Fortunately for the runners-up, it looks like they won't. Croshere will almost certainly stay and, next season, definitely start."

    Hakeem has earned that money.

Trolls need to keep from posting suggestions that Hakeem should walk away from the final year of his contract.

Doesn't matter because it still counts against the cap.

Mango-Are you trying to replace me, as aelliott's replacement capologist? [IMG]

Even if Hakeem didn't count against the cap if he walked away, we'd either still be over the cap, or so little under the cap it wouldn't make a difference.

I have to get to 1000 before you and I hear your footsteps.

With aelliott and heypartner both on leave, I figured we could do a joint deal. Of course we are both second string capologists. [IMG]

i think we owe hakeem his last year.... as slow as he is... he's known to surprise us. His name still poses a threat. anyways... about rashard lewis let's get him home. this is where he belongs. i'm willing to part with alot of players heck we'll throw in the deal with langhi and a few big guys.... give them los rogers or kenny t,,, tony tiger boy wizard and drew... give the sonics those guys. i'm sure the sonics will be able to utilize those players. all we need is francis anderson rashard kenny thomas or rogers at the 4 and hakeem at 5 with cat moochie cato collier onthe bench.... that'll do just fine for me...

But why would Seattle do that? That wouldn't, it's that simple. Our best hope of landing him is if he signs a one year deal with Seattle.

All you guys who say Hakeem should retire, should check out http://rocketdavo.tripod.com

I posted that info just so people like you can see how pointless it is to ask for it.

CaucasionSensation and Will, what do you guys want from Hakeem exactly? Please don't include any reference to "Hakeem should leave the game with Dignity...." If Hakeem forfeits the last year of his contract, a) It still counts against the cap and b) Hakeem probably won't get the money. What would you do in that situation? I would have to think about it for, oh lets say, 3 seconds before I decided to come back and take the $16mil.

Davo, Teriffic site by the way, that is supremly helpful contractually.

But the reason that we want to see Hakeem out is not really contractually, the point you make well. But instead because this is a new team, with a new style, and a new center (CATO), who needs time to develop, and having Hakeem around keeps Cato from having all the playing time he deserves.

Besides how much fun is it to point to Hakeem and say there used to be a truly awesome center, and watch Hakeem now, when he can no longer compete at anything near resembling "Dream" caliber. Not to mention we'll have nationally televised games where the advertised matchup will be Shaq vs. Hakeem. Only to see Hakeem get destroyed. I hate that.

We have a new center with a future, all of us love Hakeem, but every game he plays now is a dissappoinment. And sorry if I break one of your debating rules, but yes Hakeem does get to go out with a more intact career, then spending another year bringing down career averages, and overall sucking for Hakeem, does not meet what I want to watch on television for several months.

We have loved Hakeem for a long time now, it's time to do the same with Cato.

Hakeem's been great but it just plain hurts to watch him anymore.
