http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking Rank: 8 (14 last week): Can no longer bust on Rockets for their shortage of quality wins. They had three this week to make a strong Team O' Week push. The Hornets are one behind us because of their loss.
In the Sagarin ratings we are 6. We have had the 10th hardest schedule thus far. The Lakers have had the 7th hardest schedule so far. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nba0304.htm
How the hell does ESPN do those things? Is it the players? Is it weekly performance? Is it a combination of both? How the hell did the Spurs end up in 6th place?
they (stein) just make it up according to what they feel like. kind of both weekly performance and where they think the teams would be by season's end. i dont put much stock in it (i dont think anyone does) but i like reading the team's ranking explanation.
Ho man...the comment on the Magic was just cold: "More coaches than wins this season." Talk about kicking a team when they are down...dang.
A couple weeks ago folks were saying we had a great schedule to start. Well at this point I think the Kings have had a rosy schedule only playing 6 games on the road while the Rocks have played 11. In fact the Kings schedule is #28 in the league.
Ya know... ESPN has Indiana ranked no. 2... and maybe it's just me, but I think that's way too high. They've only played a few tough Western teams, and they're just so-so against 'em won against Minnesota lost at LA won at Phoenix lost at Portland won at Seattle lost at Sacramento. all the rest of the teams they've played have been Eastern (i.e. creampuff) teams. I woulda ranked Rockets 4th or 5th, and Indy around 7th or 8th. -- droxford
its interesting to see where others see the Rockets in relation to the rest of the league, but I'll be more interested in our Playoff seeding come Spring.
Notice those games are all "at," and they managed to win 3 of 6--whereas we got crushed at Sac, Indy had a chance to beat Sac in the final minute. Indy's for real, J O'Neal is a fabulous player--clearly L.A.'s the class of the league, but I think Indy is just as good as Sacto or Minny or San Antone or any other team in the West.
check out the new orleans hornets power ranking explanation: Floyd got his win in Chicago, but Hornets are 4-3 since win at Detroit and lost at home to only likely playoff opponent (Houston) in that stretch.
