Per Ric Bucher Boston: Dan Dickau and #7 to for Telfair except if Brandon Roy falls to #7 Looking to trade for AI (Utah or Cleveland being potential 3rd team involved) #7, #10, #11 and #13 are rumored to be up for sale Per Andy Katz: Sheldon Williams going to ATL is a "done deal"
they also mentioned a Boston/Philly deal for AI. AI to the Celtics, in return for Gerald Green and others...but they need a 3rd team. They mentioned Utah, and Boozer going to the Philly also. again...no link, just caught it on the special
I didn't know where else to post this, but I just got a look at ESPN's "What if" mock draft for if high schoolers were allowed in the draft and if certain players like Joakim Noah decided to leave school early. I just about cried. It had us being able to choose between Roy, Gay, and Thomas.... at the freaking #8 pick. Damn you David Stern, Joakim Noah, and Josh Mcroberts. Damn you to hell*. * Just to make this clear, I don't mean the physical hell of eternal damnation, but the metaphorical hell where you send sports figures who break your petty, vicarious dreams.
i c...damn We're probably overhyping players who would normally be drafted in the early teens. Ray, Gay, Foye, and Williams are probably 10-15 caliber players. I hope Rocket fans don't get their hopes up too high no matter who they draft. But, with R.Bowen on the team it won't take much to improve us.
Can someone post the nba insider article about "what if?" I am curious as to how aldrige, gay, and bargnani would have faired.
It was pretty disappointing, especially compared to the coverage they had of the NFL draft. Instead of going through the Top prospects, they went from Bargnani to Marcus Williams to Foye to Thomas. They didn't spend any time on Aldridge, Gay, Brewer, Carney, and didn't talk much about Morrison either. Like baller4life posted, Bilas sounds like he wants to have Foye's baby. Foye w/ the #1 Pick?
I don't want to post the whole mock, but here's his "What if" selections for the lottery: 1. Greg Oden 2. Joakim Noah 3. Kevin Durant 4. Adam Morrison 5. LaMarcus Aldridge 6. Josh McRoberts 7. Andrea Bargnani 8. Brandon Roy 9. Rudy Gay 10. Tyrus Thomas 11. Thaddeus Young 12. Al Horford 13. Julian Wright 14. Randy Foye
Yet another ESPN comment/complaint. John Hollinger just did his draft do-over article for 2005, but he also updated the two years prior to that. So he narrowly missed updating the Yao/Amare draft. Man, I so wanted to see Yao get put back on the top of that list. Instead we have Amare keeping top honors with that slobbering "He's going to reinvent post play" line. Grr.
I think Foye looks pretty damned good on all the highlights I have seen. If we weren't so short and untalented in the backcourt (McGrady being a 3), I'd take Foye at 8. Foye looks like he would be a good guy to come off the bench and puts some points on the board. I just worry about his defense. It'd be nice to have Foye in a role like Cassell had with the Rockets way back when.
I think Foye will be able to guard PG's and SG's down the line very well. He may have trouble at first but that is one of his strengths is being able to guard guys bigger than him so think if he can stay in front of PG's. BTW, no one can stay in front of guys like Nash, Parker, etc. The second tier PG's though I don't see Foye having a problem with.
I like Foye's toughness and tenacity. He does remind me of a cross between Stevie and Mike James with a little more size than James and a little less quickness. I sure hope that Minny wants him bad enough to take him or trade with us after picking our man. I think we are better off with a primary distributor in Rafer, and then a bigger 2 guard in Roy or Gay along with James, instead of Rafer, Foye, and Luther.
