I've been waiting for this game for awhile, I have it on pre-order, but apparently gamestop has some delays.

Has anyone gotten it yet? I read the IGN reviews and it got a 9.2 from the reviewer and a 9.8 from readers

    http://ps2.ign.com/articles/455/455904p3.html

So if anyone out there has actually played this game, post some of your impressions...

It got a 9.2 on Xbox also. I am still deciding on getting this or Live, but may end up just getting both since Toys R' Us is having a Buy 2 get 1 free next week for all Xbox and PS2 games. But if I had to choose one over the other it has to be ESPN BBall. Loved how IGN started the review

Is this a store only special?

Because their website only has it for GameCube games.

Also, do you know how long and when this starts?

Notice I said "next week"! :)

Here is the link on Amazon's website that will be qualified:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/10363051/103-1746923-0112625

I believe the instore deal is that it applies to ALL games like the Gamecube deal was this week. If you want to read more on it, check out the thread going on over at fatwallet's forums:

    http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=227033&highlight_key=y&keyword1=gamecube

Crap, maybe I spoke too soon and my fellow BBSers are going to get the good games first. :p Oh well, I hear that Best Buy will match the offer if you have an ad. ;)

it shouldnt be that different from the former, i wasnt all impressed with 2k3 after 2k2. besides, it is dead obvious that IGN is getting paid off to rank the the big titles high as of the past two years.

Man, that TRU buy 2 get on free is a good deal. Still, I am not sure if I want to buy 2 games at once for over a hundred bucks because of taxes.

I will have to think about this one....maybe my roomate and I can both pay for one of the games and then have the third around to play in our apartment.

does any body know if the game the Simpsons hit and run is any good?

It looks kind of good, since the player has the ability to drive around the city.

It got an 8.3 on Gamespot. The game borrows from Grand Theft Auto, so sounds like it is fun.

I've been pretty pumped about the game. It looks like it is going to be real cool. Seems like it will still be a great sim, but it did add a little razzle to the dazzle. (I think I took that from the review). The behind the back passes, manual alleyoops, better fast breaks, and of course the Isomotion all sound great, especially the last one. It sounds so cool to get into a combo game with your opponent.

I also read that when you're shooting FTs, the opponent can press buttons that will make your controller shake. It isn't much, but it sounds cool. The franchise sounds as good as ever.

Then there is the 24/7 mode that could be a whole other game by itself, but just adds to the game big time. I usually spend most of my time in the franchise, but I might be splitting it with the 24/7 mode.

Sounds like the dunk/layup and pro-hop buttons really spoiled some people and it seems like they think that is the only advantage Live has over ESPN. I guess they may put it in next year. BTW, like I mentioned in the another thread, why is everybody talking so much about how it was a good idea to put in a dunk/layup button? NBA Live 2000 had a similar function, or at least it did on the PC. I don't think it was quite as advanced, but it did the same thing. I would have figured both games would have used it since then rather than skip a few years and then use it.

I'm going to trade in some of my old games including 2k3 and try to get some money off. I don't know when I can get it though. May take a while until the stores near me get it, maybe the weekend at earliest. But maybe I'll get lucky. ;)

I am also looking forward to getting this game!!

If anyone gets it can you please list the Rankings for the Rockets roster (including guys like Jim Jackson that probably are not on the roster at the cut off time)?

    Thanks!!

PLEASE, if anything, I consider IGN more reliable than anything. Check out Gamerankings.com if you think IGN is bias. Gamerankings takes all of the sites/mags out there and averages out the final score which 9 out of 10, IGN is right on the money. If anything, Gamespot is REAL bias cause I heard its ran by SONY!!! They have not given any game a 10 on there but have given plenty to PS2 games and GC games (most of which are the first party games).

I played it at my friend's house and if you are a fan of the Simpsons, you will just love it. They have everything from Tomacco, Homer's failed car concept, the "gold house" for the originator of Itchy and Scratchy, to the cementary where they show Maude's tombstone. I havent played GTA, but I hear thats what it basically is.

I bought X-Box live last year, and I heard they are going to start charging for the services now. Can you still get roster updates without X-Box Live? I never use the thing, so I don't feel like paying the charges just for a few roster updates.

If not, I'm going to wait till Christmas.

Actually, they have always charged for XBox Live. The $50 you paid for was for the headset and one year of service. To renew it, its going to be $50 and they are going to charge you when ever your one year anniversary was when u activated it. To answer your question, yes, u do need XBox live to d/l any extra content. If you want the free way, when u buy the game, there is a offer for XBox live for free for 2 months, but u may need to get another gamertag if you are going to go that way.

I just got it. It's awesome...completely different from the 2K series. The realism is still there and everything, but imagine the 2K series but everything is improved, and you got ESPN.

I just got the game for the ps2 as well...
24/7 mode is just as advertised, very addicting.
The interface is also completely ESPN - logos, opening, graphics, etc.
I've been playing 24/7 since I got it this afternoon , but I took a break to play a Rockets game at the Toyota Center. Unfortunately, the arena still looks like the Compaq Center, but with the Toyota Center logos... :(
