Phil Mickelson? Are they HIGH?! 20+ Wins on tour gives him a LIFETIME tour card. Along with Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, one of only three players to win the U.S. Amateur and NCAA Championship in the same year. True he hasn't won a major, yet, but that does not mean that he is overrated.
Im not a golf fan at all, but I do know some names. I had figured that Mickelson had won at least one major due to the fact that I hear his name all over the place. I had no clue he hadnt won a major. In that sense, he is overrated.
Read the article. The writer states that some of these guys are the best of the best in the history of their respective sports and that overrated shouldnt be confused with "not good". If you look at their reasoning, it makes sense.
While I can understand the argument as to why a person may find the closer role overrated. Pitchers are pitchers, and those that dominate, be it any situation, hardly deserve to be critiqued simply because of their use. Case in point: Eric Gagne 2002 1.97 era, 52 saves in 56 opportunities, 4 wins, 1 loss, 114 strikeouts in 82.1 innings 2003 2.06 era, 29 saves in 29 opportunities, 1 win, 2 loses, 69 strikeouts 39.1 innings Flash 1998 2.72 era, 46 saves in 46 opportunities, 7 wins, 4 loses, 78 strikeouts in 79.1 innings
Or one could just look at the job Danny Graves is doing for the Reds. he has not been spectacular, but it just shows what you are saying. That a pitcher is just a pitcher. However, I think Mr. Wakefields multiple roles as a pitcher might have something to do with you opinion
Absolutely, what a bunch of morons. And Sonny Liston too. He was a dominator until he got beat by Ali, who just happened to be the Greatest; real shame in that. Hell, APolo Ono? Does anybody even remember him? you can't be overrated if nobody even rates you anymore.
What I want to know, is where in the hell is Michael Jordan. He has reporters lining up to polish his knob like he is the second coming, and he isn't even the best ever at his own sport. MJ is the most overrated person in the history of the world.
Where's Cal Ripken? Oh, and I don't know how you can call a 20 year old like Andy Roddick overrated. If he wins Wimbledon you can pretty much scratch his name off the list.
It's ironic that ESPN is telling us who's overrated when they're the ones that do all the hyping and rating...
Roddick is one of the most hyped tennis players ever. He is definitely overrated. Thats not saying he wont be awesome, but at this stage of his career, he is getting too much hype for what he has accomplished. Winning Wimbledon wont change that.
How many have won Wimbledon at 20? I know Becker did in his teens about two decades ago, but how many?
Deion Sanders overrated thats a joke Vince Carter the #1 overrated athlete thats a joke. Why is he overrated because he got injured? Fine that Ken Griffey JR is overrated
