I some what agree with him i think Francis had the same injury and never returned. With McGrady he is still effective and does not need to rely purely on athleticism to contribute kilda like Pedja, but he won't be worth the contract. Still scratching my head why management decided to extend him in his 1st season as a Rocket when he had 2 years left. This unmotivated him during the offseason.

Posted this before I viewed it.

ummm, not sure how much stock I put into the opinions of Legler.

He expects the Rockets to finished 10 - 12 this season. I am trying to see who the 1 - 9 are:

Spurs, Mavs, Blazers, Jazz, Hornets, Nuggets, Lakers, Suns are the only ones I see assured to be above us.

That leaves us fighting for 9 and down and the Suns are iffy as a top eight team.

I don't recall Francis ever having Microfracture and if I recall his injuries were calf related or something as such.

Peja and McGrady -- hmmm. I see Peja as one dimensional -- a shooter only. And McGrady even on one leg is more all around than Peja.

What will the season hold for McGrady I am not sure but I am willing to wait and see and hope for the best and hope he feeds DD crow as he hoped in another thread. :)

I'm actually hoping we do sneak into the playoffs, but i'm finally starting to think what may happen if we dont....i think it's time for the basketball gods to give us back something for the bad luck we've had...hopefully that means a top 3 pick...interesting to see what we'd do with it...

I never thought about this before, but I do suppose McGrady could suffer a major setback and miss the entire season, especially since he's not the toughest guy in regard to rebounding from injury.

I've heard he's healthy and has been shooting around, but that's a lot different than game situation.

is he saying we've already used up our role players?

landry, AB, scola, please show these guys you have more to show.
i'd so love to watch these guys eat their words.

Well those teams are a lot more talented than us, at least on paper baring injuries. I would say unless Tmac can become a top 5 player again and all our new guys really step up, we might make it into the playoffs.

A bit off topic, but it seems like a lot of people feel that when Tmac comes back, even if he does not return to his old self, he would benefit the team with his passing skills to set up his teammates for easy baskets. I have no problem with this theory. What i have been thinking recently is that if tmac does not return to his old self and we have to rely on his passing a lot, what i am afraid of is that we don't have enough fire power to take advantage of the good passing from tmac. If tmac does not return to his old form, he will not demand as much double teams. We don't have a reliable scorer on the team that we can depend on if the play falls apart Don't know how to explain it, but i am really kinda doubting our offense effeciency.

you're underestimating our players. tracy does NOT need to become a top 5 player for us to make the playoffs. a top 5 player is like all-world. tracy hasn't been all-world since 04-05 and we've gone through long stretches without yao and has done fine with lesser role players.

aaron brooks is going to take his game to another level this year. he made it look SO EASY in the first 2 preseason games. scola is going to have a bigger impact. and when tracy returns, either ariza/battier will go to the bench, which will only make our bench that much stronger (along with landry, hayes, budinger, lowry...).

the ONLY thing that worries me is the defensive rebounding. without yao or deke, we're going to struggle rebounding the ball.

as long as tracy regains his 06-07/07-08 form with a better fg%, we'll be in the playoffs EASILY.

I don't even care what Legler has to say, if I remeber correctly he didn't think we would get past Portland in the 1st round last season. Plus it is only pre-season, maybe a injury could prevent what they think is a better to the playoffs. IMO, Espn only likes 2 teams, the fakers and cleveland, they just don't respect the Rockets, and they don't realize our team can fight and may just surprise alot of people this season.

I am wondering... If the rockets rank top 3 in the WC by the end of Nov., what would those media say?

I have very little respect for Tim Legler's opinions. I am a fan of Mike Yam, though....I wish he was still on NBATV.
