That's exactly what your job is as a talent evaluator. This is how you build a roster, construct trades, mentor. I dont want to see a GM not taking responsibility for this. You have to be more than a lawyer now.

This is the first or second year he felt ready for the Regular Season.

It makes him sound amateur-ish, preferred he would say nothing.

That is the outcome for treating players like Jalen Green and Kevin Porter like your foster kids and not like actual professionals.

I just hope that next year we will use Sengun as our main offensive player, and not Green. I would like to see a season where Sengun is the clear number 1 option on offensive.

    That’s just media talk…..

The GM won’t come out and say something negative about his players in public.

The article makes a great point about this being the year in the rebuild process when the kids were supposed to get their feet wet in the playoffs. The problem with that is that we outplayed that timeline and got the #2 seed in the tough WC, and that seeding was NOT a fluke. So then these same young guys are tossed into the playoffs against an experienced Warriors team that milks refs for calls while simultaneously exploiting everything they can get away with.

To put it another way, if Butler had been traded to GS during last summer and the Warriors finished #2 and the Rox #7, this series would be looked at as a pretty successful step 2 in the 3-phase rebuild. Then NEXT year, we'd be expected to compete.

As for Jalen, his playoff collapse would be more palatable if he didn't have a history of disappearing for sometimes weeks at a time, then re-emerging looking like the second coming of T-Mac for a while before eventually shrinking back down.

Interesting that they see Reed as their most talented offensive player. Excited to see what he does next year if he doesn't get traded

That's my biggest issue, why do we have to wait until next year. Surely he can get spot minutes to ease the 8 man rotation and buy an extra min or two of rest for our guards. Rather that than Holiday who is a known commodity.

Their usage is within a point, both high 20s. You act as if Sengun is some after thought the year he made an allstar team.

Sengun can be a number 1 option just as soon as he can hit shots. Somehow that’s on Jalen or the organization though?

Patrick Fertitta was the high-ranking Rockets executive who declared to ESPN that the organization was "comfortable being uncomfortable" after Harden, the longtime face of the franchise, demanded a trade during the 2020 offseason. The quote was uttered under the cloak of anonymity at the time, but Fertitta is proud of it.

Those three words represent the patience the Rockets have operated under for the past five years.

"I just want you all to know I'm an elite poker player as well as a 30 year old owners son-GM"

It's also the right mentality to have.

Most MVP players were not predicted to become one. Like no one had SGA being an MVP a few years ago...or else the Clippers would not have traded him for PG13.

You can do this for a lot of MVP players outside of the Lebrons and Jordans and I suppose Wemby will win one, one day.

So I can understand being open to trading Jalen and whoever but some people are acting like we should have a firesale or something. We really should not be in a rush and we have the privilege of patience. Some people are acting like our core is GSWs core, where we need to do everything we can to win now. We can afford to wait and see how these guys respond to adversity, respond to losing, etc etc.

Sometimes, watching a player grow can be a bit frustrating, but there is always failures along the way.

"we have the privilege of patience" -- I love this thought. Of course, it's almost meaningless here on CF, but in my mind, we've suffered through 5 long years, a few of which were truly pathetic. Our choice now is simple: Either bring in a superstar, which would cost us major assets and possibly not pay off with a title during a short window, or bring in only needed pieces that replace the vets like FVV and Brooks and still possibly not pay off with a title but keep our window open longer.

I'd argue that it might be better to wait for the right superstar, rather than just grab one of the ones who doesn't really fit well but is available this summer. IF we get lucky enough, we have a star rise from within (Amen?) to pair with him. The privilege of patience allows us to do exactly that, if we don't get impatient and try to rush things.

he has the responsibility to add a mid-range shot to his game. No one can do that for Sengun. Going into year 5 he’s behind in developing that skill-set. I love Sengun but he’s a clear #2 until he can learn to shoot. This is not an attack on Sengun; this is just a fact.
