I think its a local Dallas link which I saw on the current "Weekend Dime". http://query-origin.andohs.net/8000.../mp3/stations/1138/stein/marcstein_090324.mp3 I thought the interesting bit was when he said that he thought Rafer Alston may have been an issue in the locker room, more so than even Tracy.
thanks for the post. I could believe that Rafer was stirring the pot in the locker room. Rafer has the need to be the boss the houston rockets are not his aau team in newyork, he cant just try and yell and order people around like he is dealing with teenagers. That kind of personality always wears thin after a while.
It's ESPN, they do not know what they're talking about when it does not deal with Cavs, Lakers, Magic, or Celts
Marc Stein is pretty good, in my opinion, and he actually spent time close with the Rockets. He had a very good article on them earlier in the season.
It wouldn't be suprising to me if he is very polarizing in the locker room almost like TO, but not as. We know he had issues in Toronto.
while i also believe it's possible, are we just assuming that he "yells and orders" his young players around?
oh my god when did the dude who does the whataburger commercials get a sports radio show in dallas? so glad i do NOT live in dallas
I remember him always being the most emotionally outspoken in post-game interviews; I guess he carried that attitude over into the locker room.
I remember hearing that bit about Rafer right after the trade. Something with him and Artest also bumping heads and keeping it between them.
Rafer said publicly that he had to be the leader because of his position as PG. Since both Tmac and Yao are quiet guys. He had to be more vocal. I don't think he had a locker room problem. Fran and Jon didn't say it's a locker room problem. The followed Rockets much more closer. It's definitely a financial move and now for future move as Morey said before the trade. He said Rockets were looking for the trade that either improved them right way ( I guess it's nash) or some moves may help them upgrade later (Rafer trade). Nash trade failed but RA's was a done deal.
I think that He said Ron need to follow game plan. I kind of remmember Ron respected Rafer a lots because they both come from NY street and Rafer is a legendary there.
I swear I read somewhere that the reason why Alston was traded was because he had issues with Artest (ie that Artest was too wild for his style of play), it was in some sort of interview a week or so after the trade.
but tracy was an easy target for the national media due to his injuries and inconsistency, considering the star power he does have. but i wouldn't be surprised rafer was that guy. he was taking too many shots at tracy and ron to the national media and was caught arguing with ron during a few games. it's over with. the team's chemistry is good now. let the past go.
noone here should be mad at rafer in any way. how many times are you guys mad whenever artest breaks from a play and jacks up a horrible shot? rafer was the only guy in the lockerroom who had the onions to call out t-mac's pathetic excuse of being a basketball player this year. rafer deserves a standing O next time he's in houston.
We had better chemistry last year and Rafer was on the team along with T-Mac. Maybe Yao is the problem?
We had chemistry the past few years when Rafer was on the team, so obviously the problem was between Rafer and Ron. Just because Rafer was the one traded doesn't mean it was all his fault.
Nobody spoke up so Rafer did, and he gets more hated on. There were many times Ron would hogg the ball and do his stupid ordinary stuff and Rafer yelled at his ass during the game, I'm glad someone did unlike Rick Ad.
The game we lost when T-mac and Artest came back, this message board went crazy when Rafer made his comments after the loss. Funny thing is he never even mentioned T-mac and Artest name, he was just answering the question, and the obvious problem that game was so clear that everyone then tried to act like he called them out. Rafer never even mentioned their name.
