ESPN: Mailman about face? Visits with Rockets, Heat and Spurs officials upcoming

    LITTLE ROCK -- As much as Karl Malone wants to win an NBA title, it just might happen after all in his 20th season. The "Mailman" has decided to lace up his sneakers one more time.

    Thursday evening, March 31st, Malone contacted his agent, Rob Pelinka, and Pelinka notified Malone is eligible for playoff rosters because he has not been under contract with any NBA team for the current season. Malone and Pelinka will be flying to Houston Saturday. Pelinka says the Rockets will likely be his destination given their available starting position due to the injury to their previous starter, Juwan Howard. He also cites the recent surge by Rocket stars Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming as intriguing Malone. After arriving from Little Rock to visit with Rockets officials on Saturday, Malone will then drive his truck to San Antonio, before flying to Miami for discussions with the Heat.

    The 41-year-old currently is second on the NBA's career scoring list with 36,928 points, just 1,459 behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. His last major goal is to win a championship. "I want to win a championship. I'm not going to lie to you. That is my ultimate goal, a team goal. It doesn't matter whose coattails I ride. I want to relive the Finals I had with the Jazz, and despite my major gaffes when the stakes rose, that was the funnest years I had playing ball."

    Malone was close to retiring last summer, but decided to wait until he was fully recovered from the knee surgery before making up his mind. "People that are around Karl Malone knew at the end of the day what the have, I can still play" Malone said.

    I wouldn't mind it. My grudge is mostly against anyone wearing the Jazz uniforms. That, and I still hold grudges against Stockton and Hornacek, because their shorts gave me headaches and nausea.

    If he's in shape, than this is great news:D I am not in to all the Malone hating crap that you guys love to do, we have a question at PF, and he may be our answer. If he is in shape, GET IT DONE CD!!

    I don't care who dislikes him . It's Karl Ride My Horses Malone. The PF is our weak link. He would be an awesome addition. Oh man, I hope he comes to the Rockets. Our chances go up another notch.
