We've heard the Rockets interest in Daniels before I know. But I still thought this was interesting. In the latest ESPN The Magazine (Nov 22nd issue) on page 134 in the NBA section there is this little ditty....

We heard all summer that the Rockets were interested in Daniels. Perhaps trying to take Daniels off the Sonics hands with our Trade Exception so they could save money. But this is the first time I have heard we were willing to throw a first rounder into the mix. Makes me wonder if we recently "upped the offer" knowing we desperately need to upgrade the PG spot.

Of course with the Sonics playing really well these days and Daniels playing well I am sure the Sonics are less likely to deal at this time. But perhaps as the season goes on and the Sonics come down to earth they might be more willing to deal Daniels. Daniels will be a FA next season and probably wont re-sign with the Sonics since Ridnour is their future at PG.

I know MANY on here are loath to deal our 1st round pick hoping we can gamble and find a "Tony Parker" or "Josh Howard" type player in the draft but could a Lue + 1st rounder for Daniels be in the cards as the trading deadline nears? Just something to think about.

I will say this, if we make any trades for Daniels, we better be willing to "resign" him when he becomes a FA this upcoming offseason. We shouldn't "rent" a player for half a season at the expense of a 1st rounder that is for sure!

That would be awesome to get Daniels. He would be a great fit to this squad.

But I don't think we could afford his price tag....

rockets 1st rounders will presumably be low first rounders for the next decade.

if they think they can help the team now by doing a deal such as this, i think its worth it.

by the way, its not like the rockets aren't fond of young talent.

last year, before the draft, there was much talk of the rockets interest in buying a low first rounder before the last draft.

Ward + Lue + 1st round pick + cast for AD

With AD, this rockets will autimatically be a title contender even with Taylor as our stater.

AD is very good at ball handling, consistent perimeter shooter and he CAN attack the rim.

I screwed up that quote. But that wouldn't be that bad of a deal even though Lue has played better than expected.

I would wait until Sura comes back and see how well he does first before give up a first rounder for Daniels.

    A. Daniels is playing great now for the Sonics, he's their 3rd leading scorer. He'll be a good fit on this team but It'll be difficult to pry him from Sonic now.

A.D. will be a good fit for the Rox. But the way he is playing for the Sonics right now, Seattle would ask hell alot more than a 1st rounder and some cash. Did yall see Griz play seattle last night, seattle is sick!

I dont think Sonics would do this. We may have to throw in either Mo or Howard there to make things happen for us.

Although I agree that we should see how Sura does, I think from past experience that Sura is too inconsistent. He does a lot of things ok, but doesn't excel in one category.

Remember, Ronald Flip Murray is coming off the injured list soon, so AD may be dispensable for the Sonics. Unless they are seriously consider moving Ray and placing Flip in his place.

They need size, the more the better. I wonder if Spoon would cut it for them. Gundy should stock up Spoon's value right now!

As I questioned in another, similar Thread, the Rox would need to give someone back within 15% whom the Sonics would have to want, and with AD an unrestricted FA (IIRC), then what?

Murray is due back anytime now, so there is that issue.

Sonics are playing great now, so there is that issue from Seattle's perspective.

Keep in mind we have a 5M+ T.E. that expires next summer we can use in any deals for Daniels or for whoever. Daniels cap hit is around 2.5M which isn't a whole lot and quite frankly on the market right now quite a bargin!

Dawson's probably cussing about the Sonics' start.

"They were supposed to stink it up and blow up the roster! Dammit!!!"
