There are a couple of things in ESPN the Mag that mention Rocket's relate stuff.

First, there is a brief mention of T-Mac by Nelly (the rapper) in an article that talks about the relationship between Hip-Hop and the NBA. Nelly says the following:

I am telling you, when you're in the booth making a record, you are like, 'Oh, sombody gonna rock to this. Sombody gonna come out and get it started because of this joint.' Like when I did the '#1' song. I was like, 'Yo, T-Mac gonna have his way with this one.' (I did not know T-Mac's favorite song is #1, but I like it too:) )

Then, there is the Greg Anthony's and Tim Legler's "Extended Forecast" column that attempts to predict the rest of the NBA season. Here it is:

Greg Anthony (covering the Western Conf)

Q: Will the Wolves make the playoffs?

Anthony: Sorry, if you have no big injuries, then after 40 games you are what you are. This is a .500 team.

    Q: Will the Lakers?

Anthony: No, Kobe will play his best ball of the year, and it still won't be enough. The West is too deep and the Lakers just aren't good enough. The Clippers, on the other hand...

Q: Can the Nuggets Turn it around?

Anthony: Yes. They knew Jeff Bezdelik and Michael Cooper were lame ducks. George Karl is there to stay; they'll listen to him. And his offensive schemes will pressure off Melo.

Q: Who will be the Man?

Anthony: T-Mac. He is probably the most physically gifted player in the league, but now he will raise his play on both ends and warrant, for the first time, serious MVP considerations.

All I can say is: WOW:eek: MVP? No Pressure T-Mac;)

even though I would love to see another MVP on the Rockets, I dont think its going to happen. If we somehow make a miracilous run like the Spurs did towards the end of the lockout season, going 22-4 to end the season, and Tmac average 30-35+ a game, then yea, he should be considered. But Lebron, Duncan, Nash, and hell even Shaq will get more consideration than TMac at the moment.

I have to disagree with you on this Dave, i think Tmac is the main man for the Rox. and Shaq needs help from Wade.

This a really surprising prediction. Assuming the Lakers play .500 ball for the rest of the season, the Nugs need to go 18-11 to get ahead(assuming they have tie breaker, otherwise, 19-10). Even if the Lakers collapse, the Nugs still have to beat out the Wolves. If the Wolves go .500 the rest of the way, the Nugs needs at least 17-12 record to tie. I just can't see the Nugs getting in unless everything lines up right for them.

Greg Anthony is the second coming of Stephen A. Smith

I'll begin taking him serious when the earth opens up to reveal the fires of hell.

Tmac ultimately winning the MVP trophy will be secondary to me but just being mentioned as a serious contender makes me go

Just as Tmac needs Yao. Nobody in the league can do it by himself. It is afterall a team game.

of course i love compliments and good things about OUR ROCKETS lol...but Tmac physically gifted? He's quick and tall and agile with long arms and he's got skills for sure...but he's like injured..limping..and well YES MVP!

Yao and him can combine to become a doubleheaded superstar :D

I think the most physically gifted player in the league is without a doubt Lebron. The guy is 6'8-6'9 with the body of a power forward.

TMac will change the world view of himself *this year.* His status will rise once he get into the play-offs. More than ever! Just wait...he will be bigger than Kobe. Bigger than Shaq, only because of his age. And only Duncan, if he beats them in the play-offs.

This is the same way that Duncan elevated his status; he beat the best: Shaq/Kobe.

The LeBron hype will continue to be high. But each year it will get harder to keep that hype sustained.

Like K. Smith said, "Players make their names in the regular season, they make their fame in the play-offs." Right now, LeBron and Amare are bigger stories than TMac. But TMac will change that once he gets to the play-offs this year.

I'd have to think the most physically gifted player in the game is Shaquille O'Neal. Some people even argue that his physical gifts are the only reason he's even good, though I personally tend to disagree with that view. McGrady and Lebron would probably be neck and neck for second most physically gifted. Things like this are always debatable though.
