Last Friday me and my mom were hit by someone who ran a stop sign, at least in our situation no-one died. JR now has to deal with the fact he killed someone. It's a very sad situation.

Wasn't Smith involved in another accident in the past?

David Wesley incident comes to mind.

Did David do any jail time over that incident?

OK, my bad. I just skimmed over the article. This is related to the incident back in '07.

I read the article and what disturbed me is the fact that he has had two speeding tickets AFTER the accident that killed his friend. Sounds to me like he didn't learn much from the accident. Maybe jail can fix that but I doubt it.

I don't remember the situation entirely, but I thought he and Phills were racing to the arena in their Porches and Phills just lost control and crashed. I'm not sure if Wesley was convicted of reckless driving or not, but I'm certain he wasn't sentenced to any jail time.

It seems like driving recklessly just is part of the NBA culture. There was a light-hearted story a month or so back about Gortat and how he likes to drive insanely fast in his car. Not a single complaint from the writer or the policemen interviewed on how he's endangering himself and others when he drives at those speeds.

Dude deserves even more time in jail. There, I said it.
The guy goes 67 mph in a 35 mph zone. Ran a stop sign. Injures two other people and kills one. The fact that they were both ejected says they weren't wearing their seatbelt.

He says he's sorry. Then he gets two more speeding tickets after the accident?

What a freaking thug. He belongs in jail.

Hope the two of you are OK. Some chump ran a stoplight a few years back and really messed my back up, for good. He was in a hurry to get to Target. Got a ticket, his insurance went up, and nothing else happened to him. While I would argue that Smith is getting off easy, he should get suspended on top of whatever criminal punishment he gets.

Color me shocked. Among the NBA athletes who "don't get it", J.R. has to be at the top of the list.

Honestly JR has been one of my top fav 10 players in the nba since he got drafted. I feel no pitty in what he's going on through but i do feel that with or without that accident, he would be an awesome asset for the rockets to throw out at opponents night in and night out. Not only that but he fits in perfectly with RA's scheme of things. I am def in favor or acquiring him now, next year and/or the year after that. There's no way this guy will stop producing anytime soon so im in no hurry. :)
