At the very least, Budinger can be an athletic player in transition who can shoot decently from 3. So, he already has a place in this league. But I also see him as a guy who can learn to utilize screens effectively to get off his shot, since he has great size and ups for his position. Allen is one of the masters at this, and has been for a long time. He's not the player he used to be, but he still knows how to use screens expertly. Changing speeds, running misdirections, setting his man up -- all part of his arsenal. This is a real growth opportunity for Budinger.

I also like how Allen has grown in his willingness as a defender. The more Budinger buys into the defensive end of the floor, the better chance he has of earning more rotation minutes at one of the wing spots in Houston.

he can be that type of player (ray allen). he has the physical tools, quickness, style, and shot to be so. most likely, he won't be as good, but he can be a similar player. ultimately, he'll be a valuable player for us in the future as he continues to develop.

but i don't know how he can develop if we have martin + ariza in front of him.

Chase Budinger has mentioned his admiration of Tracy Mcgrady's playing style. That is the veteran that Budinger should study.

Both of those players have the ability to rise above their defender, and convert field goals from a distance. Additionally, both are adept at converting field goal attempts off of curls. Budinger really needs to develop the ballhandling and passing abilities of McGrady.

LARRY BIRD!!! Their shots are very similar. If he can adapt a stronger dribbling ability...sky is the limit with Chase "White Butter" Budinger

Budinger's game is nothing like Ray Allen's. It's completely r****ded to compare a rookie who is a pretty good shooter to one of the top 10 shooters to ever lace 'em up. Not only that, but Budinger's handles and athleticism are nowhere near what young Ray Allen's were. Some of you may not remember but early in Allen's career he got to the basket and finished high above the rim regularly. That was just overshadowed by the fact that he has always been a phenomenal outside shooter.

    I agree with Dave.

Except I do think his athleticism is near RA.

I always think Mike Miller when I see him. Mike Is a deadeye shooter, with good size, can rebound and handle the ball. Good all around game. I see Budinger having that type of game and being that type of player if he can put it all together.
