http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=2890194&name=ford_chad Diaw would be the perfect big man for Adelman's system. He's a base year player so they need to make a bigger deal if they want to move him. Diaw and Kurt Thomas for Juwan, Sura, and filler would save them about 6-7 million this year and be about even next year, but they would be off the hook from Diaw's long-term deal.
Rockets are actually considering Sean Williams? Awesome Didn't Diaw struggle this year? All i remember about him is being amazing 2 seasons ago.
We seem to be doing a lot more pre-draft observing than other teams, while only having one #26 pick that may be traded away
Diaw's a nice player that could fit well with the Rockets. He had a great year with Amare out and he's faded some since signing his big deal. If we could get Thomas in the deal he could provide some good interior defense and a guy with a nice shot to boot. I doubt the Suns will be willing to part with both of these guys.
thanks for the heads up. definitely an interesting possibility. I wouldn't mind either of those players on the team...although diaws deal is a bit to stomach. as far as the workout goes...I like the idea of those prospects being willing to workout for us despite the fact we are only a #26 pick...hopefully this workout loophole doesn't work against with stern coming down against it with a fine or penalty of some sort.
Ive been saying Diaw all along! I am not that big on him but he would truly be the perfect guy to run the offense from the high post. Exceptional passing skills, has range, and the ability to drive from the high post. Something Yao has no chance at. I also feel we need to keep Yao on the deep block as much as possible. Thats where the most dominant big man in the NBA should be! They would probably want to pawn off Banks on us as well and take Novak and Spanoulis as small salary prospects. As long as we keep Hayes and Battier I cant complain. And I am glad to see the Rockets taking a long look at Afflalo! I bet Morey loves him. Adelman... not so much
That name stuck out without much effort. Another international man of mystery. This is the only writeup from draftexpress on him and it's a year old: Apparently Rockets worked out 60 or so players last year which is supposed to be a greater number than what most teams do.
Trade VSpan to the Suns in a Diaw package! They love Euros in PHX. Oh wait, you can't. Because this Euro sucks. They only want good ones.
Many GMs (inc CD) (and coaches) like to get to know as much about draftable players as possible for future consideration.
With comments like these, don't even think about complaining when others bring up V-Span randomly in threads that have nothing to do with him.
realistically thats not his fault Amare burnt most of his time. His been productive but noone can reach the same numbers Diaw did without the minutes and touches. Heck Amare gets most of the pick and rolls now
say NO to Diaw....trust me. my friend is a die hard phx fan and everyone in phx thinks he's soft...he's a product of nash
He is definitely soft. But we could still use him. Unless you think Yao can really run an offense despite being a turnover machine...
Yao's turnovers are the result of his backing people down and bowling over them, or the defenders flopping. They are also the result of him backing down and putting the ball on the floor. He is stripped easily by double teams which come from his blind side and strip him. Using him in the highpost some when he's actually facing the basket and can see everything will most likely reduce his turnovers.
If he is soft he's the last thing this team needs. We already have two of the softest go to guys in the league. Don't get me wrong I love Yao and Mac, but neither one has any killer instinct or toughness when the game is on the line. We some one who wants to be the hero or the goat, but they want the ball in their hands when the game hangs in the balance. In these situations Yao is to turnover prone and Mac wants to pass the ball to Chuck Hayes.
Very true. But theoretically Diaw would be in for Hayes or Howard, neither one of those guys would be taking important shots anyways. Especially if the game is on the line. I am more concerned with his toughness on defense and rebounding.
