Rice delay "no big deal" News that the Rockets had postponed a press conference announcing the arrival of Glen Rice sent several NBA teams into a panic this afternoon. The Rockets, in a statement by spokesman Tim Frank, said physicians were taking longer than expected to examine results of Rice's physical. A source close to the Rockets said that Rice's foot injury was worse than the Rockets expected but that in the end it was "no big deal" and probably wouldn't kill the trade. According to the source, Rocket doctors ordered more medical records and were waiting to review them before giving the final go-ahead. In nothing else, this was a big PR mistake by the Rockets. Fans were already wary of the under-achieving Rice. News of the "canceled" press conference caused a Houston talk radio report this afternoon claiming Rice had "failed" his physical. However, the deal is still likely to go down. Rice, who suffers from plantar fasciitis, said his foot is not 100 percent but he can play through the pain. If the Rockets don't consummate the deal, the biggest loser will be Shandon Anderson. Anderson, who did a sign-and-trade worth $42 million dollars that would be voided, sending the two sides back to square one. Hope they are right this time.
hope they are NOT. The "insider" never has any REAL inside information whatsoever. It's just a collection of scattered bits and pieces of speculative information published or heard from other places. I wish I could be payed to do something as mediocre as that... life really isnt fair. Oh, and God willing, Rice is packing his bags right now.
