    From ESPN Insider:

Derek Anderson has excelled as a Spur, but will he stick around in the future?

As the standoff in San Antonio reaches it's second week, free-agent guard Derek Anderson has had enough.

A league source told ESPN Insider over the weekend that Anderson will contact several teams, including the Bulls, SuperSonics and Nuggets, in an attempt to find an alternative home should things continue to go poorly (or too slowly) with the Spurs.

According to the source, Anderson remains disappointed that the Spurs have not begun negotiations with him.

Free-agent David Robinson threw a major wrench into the process when he unexpectedly asked for much more money than the $7.5 million offer the Spurs gave him.

Robinson's agent, Jeff Austin, told the San Antonio Express News Sunday night that he would begin negotiating with the Spurs this week. Austin spent the end of last week talking to the Pistons, Mavericks and Magic about possible deals for the Admiral.

However, according to another league source, there is very little interest in Robinson right now, given the luxury tax. Most of Austin's statements and moves are viewed as little more than posturing by Spurs management. "When you're dealing with stuff like this, things usually don't get really going until you approach a deadline," Spurs coach Greg Popovich said.

Anderson is of much more interest around the league, however. And he may no longer be willing to wait until the deadline to start negotiating. Anderson waited too long last season and ended up having to settle for the mid-level exception. He won't let that happen again. The Bulls and Sonics could get far enough under the cap to sign Anderson straight out.

The Nuggets would need some help, but have the ability to get it done if they were to toss Raef LaFrentz and charge into the picture.

It's possible that Spurs are deciding to go a different route all together. They've contacted Chris Webber and feel like they're in the game, and they've also been quietly pursuing Hornets' free-agent Eddie Robinson.

Could this be an opening to acquire LaFrentz? I sure hope so! [IMG]

On a different topic...Couldn't Clutch get in trouble for allowing the reposting of copyrighted (copywritten?) material on this website, especially information that you have to subscribe to get (e.g. ESPN Insider)?

I am not knocking you, simply thinking that it would be in Clutch's best interest for folks not to post articles such as this.

    Bobrek,

Essentially any NBA message board you can find will have articles from ESPN Insider when it's pertaining to their team. I don't see how ESPN Insider would expect that their information not be posted at some sites, considering the vast amount of team message boards, websites, etc. these days.

I am aware that others post info from sites such as ESPN Insider. That does not change the fact that it violates their terms of service as referenced here:

    http://disney.go.com/corporate/legal/terms.html

Again, posters can choose to decide what they post, I am just concerned about Clutch's liability.

Wrong forum. This has nothing to do with the Rockets.

Despite popular opinion, ubiquity does not beget legality. In other words, just because everyone is breaking the law (which they are in this case) does not mean that it is harmless or legal. Once ESPN/Disney gets its stuff together, you can expect a slew of flame mail from their legal staff.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to copy and paste it word for word, but you can paraphrase the article or cut and paste the excerpts that are important.

That's the rules from what I've heard, but I could care less, so keep on posting it all [IMG]

I'm all for DA going to Denver if it makes it more likely that LaFrentz will leave. Having him on the court would be a nice addition to our team. Anyone know how old he is?

I LOVE LaFrentz' game for the Rockets. He's tough enough to play inside, smart, and can knock down the 3...not many centers can do that! Would prefer him over D. Rob, Nazr, A. Davis or Dream (at this stage in his career)as he would fit in our team well. Also he's young enough that he will only improve with the nucleus we have now.

    Hope it's possible.

In order for this to work, the Rockets would have to be able to sign and trade DA to the Nuggets for LaFrentz and cap fillers. The question to ask then is whether or not a team can sign and trade another team's free agent? Can this happen?

They would have to renounce Dream, and send a second round pick to the Nuggets (ala Cliff Robinson deal, cap deals, something for nothing).

Not until the middle of December could they trade a signed free agent.

The only way for this to happen is if the nuggets are close enough to the 42-44mill figure in contracts so when they trade some players to the rockets for draft picks or future considerations(they can take those contracts since we are below the cap,not right now,but when we renounce hakeem) they will go below the cap and have enough to sign DA.Question is,anyone know the cap figure for Denver? You can find it in realGM probably but I'm to lazy to go there [IMG]

I dont see Anderson going to Denver so the whole Reaf to Houston because of Anderson signing scenario is crazy. There are other more probable ways that would lead to the trading of Lafrentz.

What about S&T both Shandon and Derek for Raef and cap filler, like Ousmane Cisse.

You can't sign and trade another team's free agent, I believe, until 2 months after you sign them.
