Espn is reporting Elton brand could get traded to Detroit, that sounds incredibly impossible and insane, but never the less, could someone help out a fellow clutchfan and post the article?
Detroit would be SOL'ed if cousins/favor doesn't pan out. Not hoping they suck or anything, but if they have a bust on their hand and that ridiculous contract, it's going to be a LONG rebuilding phase for Pistons. Philly has to demand the Piston's pick this year or next to make it a more balanced trade.
wtf kind of team is Dumars making, jesus. overpaid Gordon who plays off the bench, overpaid Villanueva streaky offense with no defense, and now Brand overpaid and lacks heart.
Well, if it takes absorbing Brand's poisonous contract just to move up five spots you can pretty much forget about any wild ideas involving the Rockets doing the same to move up 12.
Don't see why Philly would do this if the point of dumping Brand is to get salary cap relief. Rip Hamilton's contract is just as long, if not as much.
I don't think the number two pick is worth taking on Brand's contract unless you're in a total rebuilding mode. .
He's also much more productive. You're right, it's not a salary dump. Philly just trades the worthless Elton Brand for Rip, while moving down from #2 to #7. I don't know if that's lopsided or not.
There's more to it, though. Detroit would also get Philly's #2 with Brand, if I'm reading correctly. Evan Turner + Brand will probably be better for the next 3 years than just Favors or Cousins (mostly because Turner alone is better than both of them). Then, you could dump Brand's expiring contract for another big man to replace Brand or fill his role through the next year's draft. I don't think it's as terrible for Detroit as they're making it out to be. However, what would they have to give up in order to match Brand's salary?
and i still can't believe they took Darko.....that could have been the difference between one and multiple rings. Now they're paying for that mistake...
While if I was the Rockets I wouldn't have done that deal, but I could understand for a rebuilding team. No way I take any terrible contracts for an unproven pick only though.
conference finals doesnt equal rings...if they took melo wade or bosh they'd have multiple championships right now
ill take on a crappy deal to land a superstar. the production you get from favors, cousins, or turner might match with brands salary. even if it doesnt, you bite the financial bullet for 3 years to get an elite talent.
