I just saw my DVR'ed version of NFL Primetime that aired today at 3pm. They ran two entire highlight packages for the Dallas loss yesterday. The first was 3 minutes with every TO catch and even a couple missed attempts by Bledsoe. They also had soundbites from TO and from Bledsoe. The second highlight package was all of Bledsoe's interceptions and then comments from Parcells and TO again. I could've watched that and not even known another team played against them. I think they actually said the words "Jacksonville" or "Jaguars" ONCE during the entire segment. They only BRIEFLY put up the combined stats of both teams, but showed multiple stat mock ups of TO's catches and Bledsoe's throws. This is why so many fans are so incredibly un-informed about sports. By watching just that, you could know absolutely NOTHING about the game that was played that had any meaning. Pathetic.
Well spoken. I worked the World Series last year. And the ESPN guys were all "Why are we even here....no one is watching this...It's neither the Yankees or the Red Sox...waaah" The Fox guys were just as unimpressed..but a little more professional about it. But yeah I kept expecting them to cut away from the game to discuss what Derek Jeter had for lunch.
Jeff, your first mistake was recording NFL Primecrap. That show is all about entertainment and substance. There is a very good NFL analysis show on ESPN. It's titled "NFL Matchup". I knew nothing about football until I watched that show.
It's hilarrious how much media outlets complain about guys like TO, yet they pour hours of airtime into talking about him. Of course, it brings ratings. Whatevs.
I like to believe they ended it with, "P.S. The Cowboys lost." No mention of The Jags win. Yeah, the focus on big "name" players is out of control.
Agreed...It's all about entertainment...If I hear Stuart Scott say "Holla at your boy" one more time, I'm going to fly to Conn. and kick his ass...
ESPNTO is promising a great fall line up of TO related programming. Wait till you see "Dancing with the Star: TO"; "Law & TOrder"; and "TO or no TO?" (hint, the answer is always TO).
who was the chic who won the "marry a millionaire" reality show that said she didn't want the media following her and then posed in playboy. that's what espn is like.
I don't get why everyone was/is treating that game as if it were some big upset. Jax was 12-4 last year in a much tougher conference, and they were at HOME.
because they beat the yankees, oops I mean cowboys. what's hilarious is these "experts" claiming dallas has superbowl potential.
Jeff, being as articulate and as good a writer as you argue your point, would you send this to ESPN? How can we let them know that they don't do a good job of informing EVERYONE of EVERY game in the NFL? I can't do such a job, for I lack the vocabulary. I wished people would just send them some constructive criticism regarding this pathetic media frenzy on one so-called superstar, even after they lose. You're right, pathetic. Didn't we have this conversation before about another player during the offseason? Didn't you start a thread in which I quickly commented? Remember? But I have to watch their Monday Night games... that's the only way I find out other teams are playing. I think ESPNTORB (adding after SamFisher's creation) sucks.
So many people make up a football team team and yeah they want to focus on one player. Maybe cuz careers are shorter in the NFL they want to rely on those few dependable names that have any draw to them.
