So here is our team player rankings according to ESPN. Our highest ranked players, our new big 3 are Martin, Lin and Omer. Who do you think will be the biggest movers and shakers this season? Anyone moving up in the next rankings by 50 points?, 100 points? 150 points? Do you see anyone dropping in points in the next rankings? My predictions in Color or Underlined. Maybe just a little... But the reality is that a majority of our roster is either rookies or young guys who are trying to make a name for themselves. It is make or break for many of them. Our rookies were ranked very low in my opinion, especially Lamb and Motiejunas... If Greg Smith can get on the court and stay out of foul trouble, I can see him climbing in the rankings...if not he could be RGV or Gone.
This. If they think rookies don't deserve high ranking because they haven't done anything, then they shouldn't rank them at all. If it is a subjective ranking anyway, then rank them by their potential. Martin will likely be gone before the deadline. So our real "big 3" will be Lin, Asik, and Parsons. Personally, I think Lamb and Donuts have the potential to leapfrog the "veterans."
Not sure 1 year makes a diff Personally rather than age what I watch is the growth of your game. For example, Luis Scola was already old when he got here, and he didn't improve anymore from when he was a rookie. Same thing happened for Emeka Okafor though, and unlike Scola he was much younger when he started out. Another example is KD, who clearly improved from his rookie year while Melo is basically still the same player the Nuggs drafted even if both started out at the same age. For DMO he started out as this skinny as kid but then after the draft he put some muscle in his frame, in addition to fixing his rebounding issues and aversion to contact, two things which made him drop all the way to 23. I dunno if he'll still be able to add to his game, but he looks really promising to me so far.
Wait, so you think Lin is only going to jump up 20 points from #467?? Surely you mis-typed there. Otherwise, I thikn you are probably about 350 points off, minimum..
ESPN already ranked Lin #78 before this 2012 season started. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8372936/2012-nba-player-rankings-71-80
78(<---this years rank) Jeremy Lin PG | Age: 24 | Stats 2011 rank: 467 (<---last years rank) @JLin7 5.95 +20 I believe that he can be in the top 50 if he plays to his full potential, as he did during his 'Linsanity' period in New York.
I do I do Part of me wanted them to miss out, but we ain't getting a top 5 pick with these guys. So, hell yeah, do it Making the playoffs would be a huge achievement with such a young squad. I also think it would give us a better chance at attracting stars (by turning some heads) than by trying to find one in a double digit pick.
