Dunno if it was posted yet... I was reading some stuff on Yi and saw this at the bottom of the page...

"Given his oft-stated reverence for Adelman, perhaps it'll be Houston if Artest does decide to start lobbying for a new address."

just speculation but its nice to hear someone would considered coming to H-town!

thats so broad its like saying that since JVG once coached the knicks, he just might be interested in coaching them if thomas gets fired. sure artest is nice, but thats just another broad suggestion :(

I think someone posted a few days ago that the Maloofs won't trade Artest to Houston b/c they don't want to help Adelman succeed in a new place. Apparently there's some bad blood there (on the Maloof's side) since they replaced Adelman with Musselman and they did worse the next year, making the Maloof's look stupid for getting rid of Adelman, who the fans liked.

I can't recall in which thread I read that, but the poster seemed to be relaying some info that had been passed on to him.

That's correct. I think that originated from a Sacramento Bee article about possible Artest destinations. How much truth is in that? I don't know. But my suspicions are that it is true because in the past the Maloofs have acted that way. Earlier in February they didnt want to trade Bibby to the Lakers because of the past bad blood between the two franchises and they are rivals.

Peitre, their GM, is smart. He will end up making a good trade. But he will also have good trades taken off of the table because of the Maloofs butting in. Must be madening for him.

I think Adelman got a little fiesty with his public comments near the end of his run in Sacramento. He didn't go quietly.

No he not have gone quietly cosidering what he did and could have continued doing for a Franchise that, through most of it's history had been a joke before the Webber/Bibby/Jackson (as coached by Adelman) era.

Adelman and Morey need to get a 3rd team involved (one from the East with specific interests in the few assets that Houston still has available to trade), and then sit down to get things done!!

Yes,you're right. Right now his contract is managable but if he has a good year and still wants to play, he will demand a lot more money next year.

As much as I'd like to have Artest, I'd rather hear rumors addressing our needs at the 4.

Man, I thought these Artest rumors were dead.

If we didn't pull the trigger on the proposed deal of Snyder, Span, Sura, and the pick, then its probably not going to happen sadly.

We have Bonzi, TMac and Battier. Where would Artest get minutes? Or whose minutes would suffer?

Artest doesn't make any sense esp considering he's a bonehead. If we were short staffed w/ 2/3's, then why not. But we are stacked at 2/3. We need a freaking PF.

Artest could easily play PF. He's definitely strong enough and skilled enough not to be a defensive liability, and he has the kind of offense that would be great in a PF on the Rockets. He is a bonehead, though.

He's 6'7" but he'll lead the leagues in steals for whatever team he plays in. That's gotta be worth something.

He is 260lbs - the same weight as Tim Duncan. He can definitely guard PFs. He would not be the strongest rebounder (probably slightly below average or average), but he would give the other team fits guarding him on the other end. You would gain a lot of offense, lose no defense, and lose some rebounding. However, with Hayes as the backup you have a great change of pace when you need rebounding.

Artest is not a PF. Defensively, he isn't much of an upgrade over Chuck when guarding PFs. He is too short and his strength and weight won't mean jack when guys are just popping 15 ft jumpers over him all night long. Offensively, he is of course much better but his game is going to take touches away from Tmac and Yao....not good. Remember, this guy thinks he is a first option offensive player.
