Good for him. Definitely an upgrade over most of the analysts. http://www.espnmediazone.com/corp_info/corp_info_current_releases.html
One of my fav JVG quotes from his commentary during the playoffs: "LeBron spent all day yesterday watching Spurs tapes in his Hotel room. What else is there to do in San Antonio?"
This sucks. He should be teamed w/ Jon Barry again. they were great together. Although, was is JB on TNT or ESPN?
I wonder what it would feel like for JVG to coach a team for four years and never make it past the first round.... then go on TV and talk about his ex-team as it goes past the first round and then to the championship. I think that'd feel like crap.
i never liked the guy (even though i didnt know squat about him other than his 92 honda got blown away by a jet) until he started doing broadcasting. He's smart, dang funny (dry) and i love some of his more off the wall opinions and rules that he would change...e.g. no fouling out. Even though they sound outrageous, he makes a good argument.
JVG is an entertaining analyst. I'd have a beer w/ him if I saw him at a bar. Good move ESPN. Now get to work on replacing the other 58 horrible analysts.
Tremendous hire by ESPN. JVG is easily one of the best basketball analysts I've ever listened to on TV. Wild: I actually think the opposite -- he'd be thrilled and might even be a little homerish in the process ... we all know how much he loved T-Mac and Yao.
i liked jvg as a coach of course there was issues all around. but he is a whole lot better behind the mic...his comments are hillarious and unlike most pbp color guys his comments actually add to the game instead of stating to the obvious. i'll watch most any game he'll be doing color on just to hear what he says next. too bad he got teamed with mark jackson who seems to play the role of the media puppet saying what ever espn wants him to say and not really adding much to the game...plus he adds his 2 cents in all the time. i prefer jvg with barry
