ESPN Grantland gets politically correct

    I remember reading many awefully hateful game recaps about Yao right after games were finished, only to be edited and toned down a lot of the racism in the final version.

    In this one, i feel there is little to nothing wrong, but they're better off taking the "white" reference off. Its not racist to simply mention the color of the skin, but some sensitive people might think so.

    Now you bring this up, I realized how these content writers never get into any trouble as long as the editor come in quickly to wipe things. I still can't believe what I saw in things written about Yao in the first few years. But someone who gave the title "chink in the armor", which i think is a non-issue, got in trouble.

    Being non-PC and being racist is two different things, I don't agree with how the mainstream define racism or sensitive issues. Again, I feel their intent is not to make it fair anyways, it's probably quite the opposite.

    There are some who feel the NBA can be a tool to undermine the white man ego, there are others who don't tho. Its a good thing this bit about thompson is edited, but the cliche is there even without a few lines from an espn article.
