Here is the link http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2790075 this is for all you T-mac haters that were bashing him last night.
That's because t-mac is such a great basketball player....better than anyone you can name...ANYONE..yess even mj sometimes..cuz at mj's era..there wasnt much competition and hot shot players as there are todayy. TMAC FOR LIFE.
It sounds to me like George Karl uses Mac as nothing more than a way to tear down Melo or get through to him where he would finally do what his coach wants. I know that Melo isn't an easy guy to coach, and Karl is pretty demanding (although he has mellowed -- no pun intended -- somewhat since he got to Denver; Karl was venomous in his days with the Sonics and the Bucks...he constantly hammered his players in the press). Anyways, Karl has been singing Mac's praises for a few years now, it's nothing new.
carmello can figure it out all he wants but he doesn't have the all-around talent that mcgrady has. he's a great scorer but he's no playmaker.
Isiah Thomas, Clyde Drexler, Dominique Wilkens, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and timmy hardaway would disagree.
Good to hear that people in the know recognize that Tracy's game has evolved since he's arrived in Houston.
Tmac when playing his best is at the very least a top 5 player in the NBA... but I wouldnt put him down as better then MJ.... but then I woudnt put anyone above MJ...
Tmac is a great individual player, whenever he actually LEADS a team somewhere...like oh say, out of the first round of the playoffs, then we can start talking about him as one fo the all time best. But until then....NO. DD
if you actually follow him, EVERYONE of his teams has OVER-ACHIEVED. orlando teams. the houston team of 2 yrs ago. tmac has taken every team w/ a higher seed (usually seeds 1-2) to the last game. but usually one man can only do so much. one man CANNOT win a series by himself. but again, people dont' care about that. this is the best team he has ever. but if yao doesn't regain hsi dominant form, we aren't going anywhere. we say that average yao 2 yrs ago couldn't get us out of the first round. this new yao has to be dominant along w/ tracy EVERY game. if so, tracy will LEAD the rox far.
Heh. Sup Georgie. You know, there's this little word that starts with "D". You might want to add it to your vocabulary sometime. Peace out homie.
Yeah I saw this, was thinking of posting it but glad you did. George Karl apparently likes T-Mac a lot, I've seen some other great quotes from him about how good McGrady is. T-Mac should play extra hard for Karl every time he plays the Nuggets (even though he has done pretty well against them this season).
t-mac was never like melo so what is george going on about with this younger t-mac stuff. when he signed with orlando at 21 he was an all-around player and always has been. maturity just made him a BETTER all-around player. melo is not an all-around player so growing up won't change his game completely. he's averaging 4.2 assists this season, i think that would be a career low for t-mac.
true first yr in orlando, 27, 7, 5. so he has ALWAYS been all-around. but like i said, b/c tracy hasn't won, all these misconceptions are out there (selfish, lazy, weak, soft... even houston fans say this)
Part of the problem is that Karl doesn't put a priority on playing unselfishly. He seems content to let his players run and gun, taking no time to actually teach them the right way to play the game. They don't play together. They don't defend. They have no chemistry. These problems are typical on George Karl-coached teams (Seattle, Milwaukee). If Karl wants 'Melo to become a better player, then he needs to look at himself in the mirror, rather than taking a veiled shot at one of his stars.
