perhaps if yao grew up in the united states they'd have written this article 2 years ago. "shaq's no longer the most dominant center, yao is." whatever though.
Good article, but I need a few more games before saying Howard has already passed Yao. Maybe he has but it's too early in the season to draw that conclusion. If you base everything just on the first 20 games, Howard has clearly played better. But the season is 82 games.
He's getting most of his points simiilarily to Amare. He is very good, but I don't think he is capable of being the absolute focal point of the offense.
Can I request a sticky Dwight Howard thread or a dedicated forum to disgust Dwight Howard such as the "Dwight Dish"?
If Dwight Howard alone was 7'6'', had range out to 18', had a hook shot with either hand, had passing ability, shot 85% from the free throw line, and averaged 20+ points, 9+ rebounds, and 2 blocks for the last few years, then he would've been the most dominant center a long time ago.... ...crazy ESPN
i dont know why people still consider shaq a dominate center he is a shell of his former self. Its sad but shaq at his prime would destroy yao and howard he was simply a beast and saying he is still dominating now is just reliving past glory.
In all fairness, as we've found out many times when Tracy doesn't play, Yao isn't "capable of being the absolute focal point of the offense" either.
i don't get it either. i see people use dominate when they should use dominant all the time. it really annoys the hell out of me.
I don't know anybody who thinks Shaq is still the most dominant center in the league. Whoever thinks so probably also thinks MJ23 is still in the league.
I believe howard is a lot closer to what wilt chamberlain was than shaq. dude is an athletic freak combining size, strength, quickness, agility.
OK now, the Magic have lost 3 in row to the Pacers, Hawks and Bucks. The league is starting to adjust to Howard's improvement. Last season, the Magic started out 14-4 or 15-4 before collapsing. The same thing could be happening again. I don't expect them to completely fall off the map but by this time next month, let's see how much better Howard seems than Yao. My guess is it will be a lot closer. SVG will figure things out and get them back on a winning track but the 16-4 could end up being a distant memory. I said their backcourt would kill them and it's happening right now. Jameer Nelson and Keith Bogans ain't gonna cut it.
