He only got 1 vote and got his name spelled wrong.

Seriously, DM brings in Artest for next to nothing, Von Wafer, and Kyle Lowry.

Replace Artest with B.Jackson, Greene and Von Wafer with Mike Harris and we would not even be in the playoffs right now.

the billups trade was super for the nuggets, but morey took absolutely nothing and turned into quite a lot. guess the nba doesn't care about that...

Whatever. I still think Dork Elvis is one of the most well-known number crunchers in the business, and that's pretty cool.

He won by fixing the Iverson screw-up he himself had committed in the first place?

Morey has constructed a team that is top 5 in the NBA and essentially only has a $50 Million dollar payroll (sans McGrady)

How many other teams can say that?

It was a good choice. I would have liked Morey to win it, but bringing Billups changed their whole team.. it was almost like what Danny Ainge did in bringing Garnett to Boston. They play defense now.. they are winning.

Morey would have won for sure if he made the TMac for Billups + fillers trade, and Denver would not make the PO.

I think if we would have finished 2nd in the West DM would have gotten more respect. To some we didn't achieve much, we stayed the same.

    4-5 seed in the West.

I hope Morey never wins it. Every other GM would be extra careful with him. Look at how other GMs loathe making deals with Pritchard. Also, if Morey wins, other teams will start copying his analytic approach. Right now, he has an upper hand because he is taking advantage of people undervaluing some players.

Morey is the best and that isn't even the homer in me talking. There is not another team in the league that loses a $23 million dollar player and goes on to win 50+ games and advances to the second round (with a convincing first round performance).

Morey basically brought in a top 10 PF in Scola for free, grabbed Landry and Brooks for next to nothing, got Ron for a prehistoric, shoot-first PG and a draft pick who has not done anything notable and then he brings in a hell of a 6th man in Von Wafer for the minimum. Oh, and getting Lowry for Alston? Nice.

Even his gambles that turned out poorly (Steven Francis) were super low risk.

Nobody has done more with less than Daryl Morey.

The NBA is a bandwagon league.

How do you give coach of the year to a guy who has the mvp on his team? Man, alot of adversity he went through. Im sure he had to really draw up some amazing plays.

    All the awards are B.S.

these awards go by playoff seed.

If houston beat dallas in the final game of the season DM would have won.

So making one move wins you the award? Forget the cause/effect element. Really....just one move?

Nobody has done more with so little than Morey. He pieced together a team capable of winning 50+ games despite a $23M disadvantage. Call me a homer. Maybe i'm just being too logical here?

Actually, I think you can credit him with a couple of moves to reduce salary and stay competitive. He dropped the payroll number over $20 million and ended up with a better team. That's noteworthy.

I knew Morey wouldn't win but it is hilarious that Denver VP Rex Chapman got an equal number of votes. So Denver's GM and VP are both in the top 10 for NBA GM's and Execs? Since they have both been there a while you would think they would have been better than they were recently.

Smart man, this is exactly what I was thinking before I even saw your post.

You guys need to realize it works to our advantage to not have morey away from the spotlight. This way he is like a surgeon that has a knife and is ready to carve through hot butter, if everyone else knew his tactics had such efficacy, then people would stray away from trading with him or mimic his methods.

If your smart in business and you have the advantage, you play your cards close to your chest.
