Well, I'm not excited about Ryan Bowen being the starter in TMAC's place.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2214888 McGrady sidelined with back painESPN.com news services Tracy McGrady will sit out Saturday night's game against the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets after an awkward landing during practice Friday that sent him limping off the court with back spasms. "We're treating him for pain associated with back spasms," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said in a statement released by the team. "We'll be treating him throughout the day and evaluating him further." It is the latest in a series of problems suffered by McGrady since the start of training camp. He sat out the final two preseason games with tendinitis in both knees, then bruised his left knee when he collided with Dikembe Mutombo during the final workout before Wednesday's season opener against the Kings. "He went up, he dunked the ball, he came down," Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said. "He's been the victim of some unfortunate breaks so far this year as it pertains to injuries. So, we're hopeful." McGrady, 26, missed just four regular-season games with the Rockets a year ago, while averaging 25.7 points to lead the team in scoring (he ranked sixth in the NBA). McGrady's spot on the starting front line could go to 6-foot-9 Ryan Bowen, who played seven minutes against Sacramento.
No offense, but where does it say Bowen is going to start or T-Mac is out. We still have 3 hours of speculation here.
This is why we picked up D.A. Starting: Alston Barry DA JH Yao I think Luther gets some playing time tonight! Nice.
Thats what Im hoping for. Wesley didn't do that much off the bench and we could probably use his defense in the starting lineup. Bowen is better served coming off the bench, giving us some energy, hustle. etc.
CRAP!!! i have had tix to this game since they went on sale. i am so bummed. i am taking my girl to the game and she hasn't seen tmac live yet. oh well, maybe ryan "new shoes" bowen can step it up. he plays like a kid with a new pair of shoes and he is in the store testing them out.
And he knows it, too. Look for Yao to be putting a HUGE effort tonight. Even without McGrady, it's gonna be a good game.
Not having him for 3-4 weeks is terrible. DA will have to move into the 3 spot leaving Barry,Wesley and Head to handle the 2 guard position. Bowen isn't good for more than 5 minutes a game.
Well, he's been hurting anyway with the tendonitus. It's better that he gets his rest now before it gets any worse.
This is just what the doctors are telling him, but they haven't made up their mind how long they will keep him out yet. My thinking is if the doctors say 3-4 weeks we might as well keep him out for that length since it's still the beginning of the year.
Wow. 3-4 weeks. This will be the first time EVER in the NBA that Yao has to carry the team for an extended period of time. I await the results with interest. Get well T-mac. And come back healthy.
Here is a list of the teams we will be playing over the next 3 weeks. 11/5 Hornets 11/8 Magic 11/10 @ Heat 11/12 @ Nets 11/13 @ Celtics 11/15 @ Twolves 11/17 @ Spurs 11/18 Pistons 11/20 @ Pacers 11/22 @ Mavs 11/23 Suns 11/25 @ Grizzles 11/26 Bulls I think it's a good posibility that the Rockets might have a losing record during that stretch without Tmac.
