Brian (Philly): Good Doctor, With a revamped bench, a stronger, smarter Yao, and defensive-guru JVG at the helm, would it be too ridiculous to predict the Rockets to be a sixth seed in the West, just one year after missing the playoffs? Dr. Jack Ramsay: The Rockets are challenged to make the top 8...JVG will get Yao the ball more...the big guy will have to do good things with it...and I think he can. Then Francis and Mobley have to tone down their perimeter games...and I think they will...but as much as anything the forwards must step up...Griffin and Taylor in particular...JVG is high quality...he'll get it done, but 6th may be too high. "But 6th maybe too hight?!" Is 6th in west too hight?
no, Dr Jack sometimes just seems confused. There were times last year he would reply to someone and make absolutely no sense. Of course the Rockets have a shot at the 6th seed. Right now i'm more concerned with JVG implementing his system and the rockets actually playing team ball. David Aldridge is the guy i prefer. Tell me what he says. Dr. Jack, i could care less.
If Steve and Cut tone down their perimeter game Won't that leave other teams to just sag down on Yao? Rocket River
I think he wants steve and cat to stop making illadvised shots out from valhala. I do agree that making top 8 will be a challenge already. I have yet to see any evidence that the Rockets are a lock to the playoffs this year.
So......basically, he just said what many have been saying over the past year. -Give Yao the ball more -Our forwards have to step up -Stevie and Mobley have to control their perimeter game I'd be surprised to see the Rockets any higher than 6th.
