Kobe and Phil must live on a different planet. I don't even know where to start.

    ************************************************

For the Kobe apologists, I've added this from the tread "Is Kobe a dirty player?"

I agree completely; Kobe's arms have always flailed out sideways towards peoples faces when he shoots.

Impper, you live in a dreamworld. Since when has Kobe been a dirty player you ask? From about the time 9 months after his mother made woopie with Satan (AKA, the day he was born). In the eternal arguement over the merit of the antichrist most of his disciples love to ask the question, "What has he done wrong?" I refuse to get bogged down in that arguement; it isn't about what he's not, it's a issue of who he is. Kobe lacks any semblance of what moral people refer to as virtue. Seriously, I beg of you, try and identify one positive personal quality that he embodies. Impossible. Kobe will do whatever it takes to win; and as a sports spectator, I'm afraid that just doesn't inspire the masses of responsible tax paying, hard working American adults.

i don't think you can intentionally elbow someone in a potential game winning shot. You shoot, watch the ball on the way to basket, and you still have spare mind to intentionally elbow someone?

He's just trying to draw a foul, even Manu and Popo said it wasn't intentional,
the league has 3 standards for players, one for Wade and LBJ, one for YM and Kobe, and one for the rest.

You are actually claiming Kobe gets harsher calls than the rest of the league?

yep, kobe is definately getting yao ming bias from those hating refs

the classy thing on kobe's part would have been to apologize for that cowardly play and move on but as we all know through hotel workers that he ain't.

You don't really expect him to say it was intentional and the suspension is deserved do you? Of course he's going to say it was an accident and the punishment is harsh.

Take a look at the video. Kobe had his shot blocked by Manu and the ball went straight up in the air. Kobe swung his arm out to push Manu away so that he could grab the loose ball. I don't think Kobe wanted to hurt Manu, but he did swing his arm out with the purpose of push Manu away.

Kobe swung his arm out with the intention of getting a foul. It's an exaggerated motion he has perfected, and several others around the league do it as well. You'll notice McGrady did the same thing to draw contact on some of his jumpers in the 04-05 season. It wasn't an intentional elbow to the face, both Manu and Popovich stated that.

Too much Kobe hate on this board.

Am I the only one who thinks this statement is absolutely ridiculous? What the heck does being "a premier player" has to do with whether he should be suspended? You mean if a scrub did it, he deserved it. But a guy like Kobe should be treated differently?

It is clear that superstar treatment in officiating is already taken for granted by refs, coaches, and players alike.

this suspension is unreal.. and undeserved. foul on him, yes, if you want to decide a game on that. A flailing arm is hardly flagrant on any level...much less deserving of a suspension..

I think Phil may have meant that he's being suspended (i.e. treated worse) b/c he's a premier player.. as opposed to you thinking Phil thinks he should be treated better than others.

it definitely looked intentional. bryant knew his shot was blocked because there was no need for that big of a swing after a shot.

but then again flopper ginobli deserved it.

Kobe suspended. Ginobli legitimately getting contact to the face. It's a win-win situation.

BTW, Kobe is blown away when someone brushes up against him and there's no call. I'm not surprised by his reaction. Despite the video, Kobe apologists are spinning this like Bill O' Reily.

I'm no fan of defending Kobe but I don't think he intended to hurt manu.. he meant to get him away from the ball but it was just bad timing and connected in the worse way. a suspension is ridiculous when none of the players involved even thought it was intentional..
