http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1748786 Now, it looks like the defense is that they didn't know they were steriods.
73 * I thought it was funny that Bennito Santiago was another player accused of having used steriods. I always wondered how he has been able to play into his 50's.
LMAO - not surprised by this at all. It is comical that the NFL player is Romanowski. Taking these is probably what caused him to punch out his teammate this past season - what a great human being he is!
Well, is there any doubt now who the true NL MVP was (Pujols)? Thanks for tarnishing the game fellas.
This is going to be a huge blow to baseball (despite the fact most knew he was on something). To have your biggest star (arguably) who set a HR record suddenly tied into illegal substances, well it'll be interesting to see what happens in the record book. Maybe instead of an * (like on Maris old HR record) they can mark it with a needle But I will be very interested to see how it plays out. And I agree it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Bonds is an douchebag. The great thing is all of his big talk about him taking action if anyone throws close to him, well I would love Clemens (or anyone else) to throw inside. Just to see Barry charge the mound would be priceless for the simple fact noone likes him so he would be going alone to teh mound and I would love to see 9 guys kicking the living snot out of his juiced up body. I feel better now!
The Astros open the season against the Giants. Should make for a fun time at Minute Maid. "BARE-REEEEEEEEE" "BARE-REEEEEEEEE"
Does anyone really think there will be HUGE ramifications to this?? Do you think MLB would even allow there to be HUGE ramifications for this (like putting asterisks in record books). I mean..how many people don't believe that the guy Bonds took the record from was juiced up, too? How long did all the hoopla last over Sammy's corked bat?? A couple of weeks?
are you postive that pujols isn't juicing?? i mean, that's my point...if it's so common, how can you possibly determine who the "rightful" owner of records or awards is?
I remember going to a Cubs game last season, and this guy had a wig on with corks braided in it...best heckling job ever. Maybe somebody will make a huge hypodermic needle out of cardboard and bring it to MMP...
1 Barry Bonds *2001* 73 2 Mark McGwire *1998* 70 3 Sammy Sosa *1998* 66 4 Mark McGwire *1999* 65 5 Sammy Sosa *2001* 64 6 Sammy Sosa *1999* 63 7 Roger Maris *1961* 61 8 Babe Ruth *1927* 60 9 Babe Ruth *1921* 59 T10 Mark McGwire *1997* 58 T10 Jimmie Foxx *1932* 58 There's no way baseball can act on this. Just look at the list. Are you going to knock off the top 6. Just looks stupid to do that and baseball will turn their backs. This will all be forgotten in 100 years if baseball doesn't act. Bonds will become a legend and it will all be forgotten.
how long before rose has a press conference to demand that if they can get into the hall and they are on steroids as players.. he should certainly get in for something he did after he retired?
So does Sheffield still plan to submit to voluntary testing. And to think I was willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt after his spiel on "Sportscenter" I feel sick to my stomach.
I believe a NY reporter actually showed up at spring training last week with a cup, and a docter and called Sheff on his bluff. From what I heard (on ESPN), Sheff wouldn't take the test because the MLBPA wouldn't allow him to.
If we're talking about the same reporter, I saw a NY reporter interviewed on ESPN News. He stated that Sheffield was agreeable to on-the-spot testing, but the reporter didn't have the necessary equipment. So he told him to think about it for a day and he would come back the next day with the equipment. By then Sheffield had changed his mind b/c he had allegedly spoken with the MLBPA and they told him to stay away from the reporter because he was "bad news."
