Blount to re-sign with Boston: Center Mark Blount agreed to re-sign with the Celtics early Thursday morning according to his agent, Mark Bartelstein.

The contract, according to Bartelstein, will be for six years, $41 million dollars.

Blount was wooed by several teams, but in the end felt like he needed to return to Boston.

"I think Danny [Ainge| and Doc [Rivers] did a great job of convincing him that he would be part of great future in Boston," Bartelstein told Insider. "They stepped up to the plate offering their full mid-level exception and I think at the end of the day, Mark felt like they really wanted him the most."

Personally, I am shocked! I didnt think there was any way Blount was going back there considering he was pissed at Ainge last season. I thought for sure he would go to Miami!

Me too. I know I would have jumped ship with Ainge sending the franchise haywire, Doc or no.

If I were pissed like a piss, but see the 41 millions, guess what? It won't matter anymore.

I know Blount was talking with the 76ers (to play for his old coach O'Brien). And I know he likes warm weather and has a home in Florida so playing for the Magic or Heat were possibilities.

I wonder if teams weren't willing to give him the FULL MLE like Boston was willing to do. Maybe that was a big factor for Blount. Maybe Blount believes in Doc Rivers and that was a big factor.

    I am still surprised however!

Blount had a good year last year, and seems headed for a breakthrough season next year. This is a good deal for the Celts. I thought he would get more on the open market.

Mihm's future in Beantown is looking bleak.

No Worries- Good point. I know a team that could use a backup center who can slide to PF if needed...

I'm not convinced Mark Blount is going to be much different than Marc Jackson.

The Celtics sure have a lot of money tied up in this guy and Raef Lafrentz. Perkins and Jefferson are there future up front.

This coming year is Perkins' second. You gotta think that the Celts will start giving Perkins some consistent albeit minimal minutes every game. Jefferson is a rook (from HS even) so his PT may not be any better than erractic.

Mihm is RFA so the Celts could match any offers, but don't see why they would outside of a SnT (which a part of the Rox TE may be enough to get the job done?)

I rather give Blount 41 mil for being a productive player than 42 mil to Foyle for his political thoughts from the bench.

I like what danny ainge is doing.

He has brought in some young players that are more athletic and potential.

The team that went to the eastern conference finals had no chance of winning an NBA championship.

Everyone ripped the walker trade when it first happened, but now look at toine's trade value.
