HOUSTON -- Calvin Murphy's arraignment has been postponed again in the sexual abuse case involving the former Houston Rockets star.

The postponement came Thursday as a Harris County grand jury reviews evidence in the case, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

Calvin Murphy contends that the allegations by his daughters stem from family discord related to a battle over money.

Murphy appeared in court Thursday for a routine hearing on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. The charges filed March 29 relate to alleged attacks reported by five of Murphy's daughters.

Murphy is accused of sexually abusing his daughters between 1988 and 1991, when they ranged in age from 6 to 13.

Murphy, 55, denies the allegations. He contends the allegations stem from a family battle over money.

Assistant District Attorney Lance Long has dismissed the idea that money motivated the accusers.

The former player remains free on $20,000 bail. If convicted, Murphy could receive five years to life in prison for the aggravated offenses and two to 20 years for the indecency violations. He also could be eligible for probation because he does not have a criminal history.

Murphy has taken a leave of absence from his analyst duties on Rockets telecasts while he fights the charges against him.

The 5-foot-9 NBA Hall of Famer has 14 children by nine women.

Murphy was a guard for the Rockets from 1970 to 1983. He missed just nine free throws -- and made 78 straight in one stretch -- in 1980-81 for a record single-season percentage of .958.

Yeah, the cops detained the wrong Murphy. They meant to charge his evil twin, Clavin.
