tom (LA): lets mix it up with a sonics question... barry is gone. that leaves ray allen, ridnour, daniels, and flip murray.. who stays and who goes? can luke and flip turn it up a notch this year? David Aldridge: (2:27 PM ET ) Daniels will be gone, I think. They think Ridnour's ready to play bigger minutes next season, with Flip as the third guard. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=5585 Hopefully he will be a ROX !
He's just speculating himself. It's no affirmation of whether it will happen or not. So let's try not to get too excited.
David probably is just speculating, but the fact that he has been hearing that Luke is going to get major minutes next year from the Sonics organization, speaks volumes about the trade rumors we keep hearing on this board. Daniels value is certainly at a high-point, and if they can fill a need position without taking on major contract, it's logical that they would do so. He's my first choice, so I hope we work something out.
Its pretty funny how some on this board are counting on the Sonics (upcoming) 3rd string PG to save the Rockets!
I agree with Jeff in a previous thread. We fans are fickle. If we spend too much, we blast Les and CD. If we don't spend, now we're being cheap. I would rather be careful then end up with contracts like Moochie, Matt Maloney, Mo Taylor, and every other guy that hasn't lived up to the expectations for them. We did well with JJ last yr and that shows we still have time to get what we need.
If it makes anyone better I won a fantasy basketball league with Daniels as one of my guards. Yeah....I didnt think it would help.
How quickly people forget guys like Chauncey Billups, Troy Hudson, and Bobb Jackson, who were other team's 2nd and 3rd string PGs. Derek Fisher was a backup last year. So was Avery Johnson, who was a 3rd string PG until the Spurs gave him a chance to steer the ship. Mario Elie was also a 3rd string player. So was Chucky Brown a 3rd string PF. And who was the Bulls PG during their championship run? People are so quick to forget that while they assume people want a PG to come "save" the Rockets, fans actually just want a solid PG to run the show and contribute at a decent level because that is all you need to get to the Finals an win a championship.
I believe the question was more rhetorical in nature. But yes it was. You could also say Derek Harper.
