Why is the media still talking about Carmelo. Did he piss off a few sports writers? He wasnt a ballhog at all here.

 

He was amazing on 2k with us... Great moments...

His usage with us was just 20%, that's lower than Gordons, MCW and Chriss and just barely higher than Green and Capela.

 

It's a good article, though. Just look at the graphic of the shot heat chart at the end and it pretty much explains everything.

Actually, the text says other things too, like how rule changes have affected the game and the players.

If he was a bad and irrelevant player they wouldn't talk about him. He's being talked about because he was part of the 2003 draft class, he was a top 10 player for stretches in his career and his career looks to possibly be winding down.

 

Kind of feels unfair to be kicking a man when he is down.

 

Really a great article. Accurately sums up the rules shift over the last 15 years and demonstrates why Melo was a poor choice for the Rockets in particular, and for at least 2/3 of current NBA teams. It's sad, because Melo's style was perfect for the '90s NBA.

 

Lebron is also from the same draft class and he's ISO heavy, ball dominating player, yet he's having another career year at age 34.

Enough of this MELO sympathy. DUDE is lazy and doesn't want to adapt. HUMAN SURVIVAL is about EVOLULATION AND ADAPTABILITY.

Look at CP3 and Harden. Both ISO heavy players. Both players would have been great in the ISO league in the 90's and they are still great players today(when CP3 is healthy). Both players adapted to teammates and league rule changes, guys like Melo and Dwight refuses to adapt to teammates or rule changes and still say "GIVE ME THE DAMN BALL" like this is 1990's.

Lost in the ESPN article is how great Harden is. Harden an iso heavy player is still thriving in the new NBA. This year, they made a new rule change so Harden couldn't get to the line, but he adapted and is having another one of the greatest offensive season EVER.

Harden TS% is only behind Curry and Durant and ahead of Lebron. Harden peak TS% is only behind one other player in the history of the NBA, Curry.

WE'RE ALL WITNESSING THE GREATEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN THIS ERA and here we are talking about MELO and how he's being left behind

 

No I think it's personal in some aspects. The media goes out it's way to ridicule or unnecessarily praise certain players. Even if Melo succeeded here the headline would've been "Chris Paul & Harden showing Carmelo how to win" or "How much has Melo benefited from playing with 2 superstars". The media has always hated this guy

Maybe, don't know, haven't really followed the media's dealings with Carmelo through his career

 

id say injuries combined with the fact he was never super explosive anyway plays a bigger role than rule changes.....and on top of all that its not like he cant still play. id take melo as a spot up shooter over plenty of guys in this league. he is fearless and relishes big moments.

why do you guys keep spewing the same BS on how he refused to adapt ? he did everything that was asked of him.

Difference between these guys is the successful ones are elite creators for other people. Melo was never much of an assist guy.
