He needs to give Chris Paul a big hug.

Rivers needs to cook dinner for Allen and KG.

Adelman should send the league a tape of the 22-game win streak with and without Yao and how he got a 10th place team to finish 2 games behind first.

Tom Thibodeau deserved it more than BS and Doc. RA should have been the unanimous selection.

THis would have been my list:
    1) RA
    2) SVG
    3) THibodeau

Now it seems to me that Chris Paul can't win MVP. If he did, wouldn't we have to decide who is more valuable between Scott and Paul? Either Paul was more valuable than any other player in the league, or Scott was the most valuable coach. To say it was both diminishes the value of each award.

Did Scotts coaching get them over the hump of success and recognition?
    or
Was it Paul being the most valuable player in the league?

The purpose of these awards is so vague. I shouldn't even be able to make this argument.

why would you say he was awful, he had an awful team in boston, and he a guy who admittedly quit on his worst season in Orlando. Other than that, he seems to have gotten the samething jvg and adelman gets out of tmac.

doesn't really disprove my point...the award obviously doesn't measure how good of a coach you are.

I don't often know about a good deal about how a coach was as a player and how player is as a coach, but in this case I can open my mouth confidently.

Your analysis fails because you don't pay any heed to the fact that Doc Rivers was a defensive-minded player with moderate offensive capabilities who became a coach of bunch of players with limited scoring ability. So Doc tried to make last year's Celtics play defense. It didn't work. This year they added offense with Garnett and Allen, and at least with Garnett the Celtics also improved their defense. Rondo played better than could have been expected as well, and you can thank Doc Rivers and veteran leadership from te "Big 3" for that.

    precisely. mainly the latter.

replace doc rivers with any other head coach in the league and they are still at least close to a 60 win team. remove garnett and allen, and they are back to the 20 win team they were a year ago.

i guess either you see it or you dont, but rivers deserves almost no credit for this team's turnaround.

Well, the Bucks had an in-prime Sam Cassell, Ray Allen and Glen Robinson and they never made it to the eastern conference finals.

Look at the Portland Trailblazers about 8-9 years ago. Butt loads of talent and the furthest they got was to game 6 of the western conference finals.

Sometimes too much talent is a bad thing.

You say that Doc Rivers sucks as a coach, but you can't offer anything to negate the opposite view that he got that team to play together as a unit.

there is just no rhyme, reason, or logic to the voting for this award. why has phil jackson only won COY once, yet won 9 championships?

Sucked in orlando, sucked in boston before the big 3, and sucking right now in the playoffs tied 2-2 with the hawks.

Take away Chris Paul for half of the season and see if that team finishes .500 let alone wins 55 games.

How did Doc Rivers get 2nd? The writers are ****ing idiots I swear. You think his coaching got 66 wins or the 3 superstars on the team? Gee I wonder...

He's lost 2 games to the HAWKS... great coaching.

You've got to be ****ting me... Doc Rivers is 2nd? People that vote dont even watch the NBA I swear. They just vote based on last season's record vs. this season's record. ITS STUPID

You can read about how incompetent Doc Rivers as a coach is if you read Bill Simmon's latest chat.

Well, Chris Paul can say bye bye to his MVP chances then. No way Hornets get both COY and MVP
