I'd read some pre-season prognostications where this had been foretold. I'm not surprised that it happened, just that it happened so soon.
I think it's a given that they are going to have to do something drastic. They should trade Paul now before he gets too sick of losing and demands a trade, which would immediately drop his value.
Was a long time coming. I guess yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back. New Orleans right now is Chris Paul + a bunch of wooden planks. They're headed for the lottery. Who knows, maybe Paul forced him out. He has publicly voiced his frustration over not being able to enjoy the playoff success that his mates around the league have enjoyed. While Scott is to blame for some of it, the fact is that the Hornets front office has been pathetic when it comes to player moves. They have exactly one good player on that team, and his name is Chris Paul.
He was a dead coach walking ever since the Denver playoff series. That team has other problems besides the coach but this had to be done. I wonder if Scott was asking to be fired when he said earlier this week he still bleeds Lakers purple and gold. Going forward, if the Hornets continue to be pinch for money, the franchise will go nowhere but down.
Have the Hornets really been penny-pinching? It seems to me that they have been paying top-dollar for what they thought were quality players--e.g. James Posey--but the minute they join the team they start to stink.
I kind of think the new coach will get things going. Hornets should do well enough to keep their core. If they are ALL about saving money I guess we will be able to tell by the coach they select... like I always say I could envision the Lakers somehow landing Paul with Bynum & company.
Wow, shocking. That was the first thought that went thru my mind as well hsf. I sure hope so..... CP3
Watching this team play, it is hard to figure out how they were a 2 seed just 2 years ago. Seems like they just lost all of their mojo.
I watched most of the game last night against Phoenix, and I have to say that this doesn't come as a surprise at all. They showed Scott's expression quite a bit throughout the game and it was one of indifference. The Hornets look completely unmotivated on defense. No effort whatsoever. I think Scott lost them completely.
This is the typical NBA response when expectations aren't met: fire the coach. How many coaches are immune to this response? Phil Jackson and Pop are the only 2 that I can think of, Doc Rivers? maybe.
There had been rumors about this. But, if anything is to blame for that team's current ineptitude, it's the salary situation. Yes they have Chris Paul, David West, Peja and Okafor, but the second string sucks too much
Well, if they did/do start selling away players, CP3 sure would be nice And if the Lakers ever did get CP3 somehow, someway, wow lookout.
No surprise - he clearly lost the team a full year ago. Third time Scott has had a franchise PG that despised him after a couple of years: Kidd Baron Paul All 3 openly detested him by the end. "Hey, I was never a quarter of the PG you are in this league.....so here's what I want you to do! Listen to me! I road Magic's coattails as a spot up shooter!"
