I hope it works out for him, and it could actually be a good match unless he gets no meaningful playing time (for whatever reason). I wish him well, in any case.
judging by last year with the knicks t-mac is in no condition to play 82 games a season ever again. he should be grateful the bulls will let him warm the bench
Derrick Rose made this signing. They've gotta keep their franchise player happy. I wonder what Tracy has left in the tank and if he makes a huge deal about coming off of the bench. The Bulls are deep...he might have difficulty finding substantial minutes...
The worst thing that could happen for them is to depend on McGrady early in the season and then he goes down later on. I don't believe for one minute he will last the season. Wouldn't surprise me if he does well for a while and then goes downhill. He should come off the bench and not affect the starting unit. Of course, I'd like it if he weren't even on their team. Somehow, some way, McGrady will make himself a net negative for the Bulls. This is not a riskless signing. Hopefully Thibs makes it clear from the beginning the diva act won't be tolerated, laziness on defense will get him yanked, he will NOT be the first option on offense and McGrady will play with a leash for the first time in his career. shortfuse3, you are probably dead on.
Let the T-Mac hate begin...Man it's sad to see how many low-class fans we really have. T-Mac brought us good memories...why can't we appreciate that? Anyways, T-Mac i wish you the best with your new team.
If the Bulls can get 24 minutes per game from Tmac, and maybe more if he shows he can handle the workload, then this could be a steal for them. On the other hand, Tmac is proven playoff kryptonite. We'll have to see, I suppose. One thing's for sure: the Bulls are getting a hard working lunch pail kind of player...... (cough cough PTOOEY BLARF) Couldn't keep that one down.
^^^ this. This is a good risk free signing for Chicago, also thibs has coached tmac before. During the workout he will be able to truly evaluate tmac from the days he coached him here in Houston.
I'm not a T-Mac hater, but reconsider how he left Houston. THink about what "insiders" suggested he brought to the locker room. It's not hate as much as frustration that Daryl gave him chance after chance to revitalize his career, and he chose to make poor decisions. The surgery was the last slap to the face. He did bring some good memories, but he couldn't deliver us past the first round. We needed Yao, Ron and Luis working together to do that. When Tracy was healthy, I was his biggest fan. When Tracy was injured, I was still a fan. When Tracy became the " I Am Legend" teammate, I knew it was time for a change. He may do well on the Bulls, but the way he left the Rockets, although traded, was not what most of us expected out of a professional. He is a true talent, but he needs to work on finding a sports psychologist to work through his physical and emotional conflicts.
Thats the best place to show off his thousand dollar suits when he starts the season on the injured list.
Seems like a low risk high reward type of move. If he can contribute, its a good signing, but if he b****es, Thibbs and Paxston will keep him in check. I think he can back up D-Rose as the Point foward. Rose/McGrady/Watson Brewer/Korver Deng/Johnson Boozer/Gibson Noah/Thomas Pretty solid lineup. I think they can challenge the Heat, Celtics and Magic.
