http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/news/premium?id=1835532 Brent Barry Spurs Rockets Sonics Nuggets? Jul. 7 - The Spurs could join the Rockets and Sonics in pursuit of Barry. Houston was thought to be going hard after the swingman, and he has maintained he'd return to the Sonics if they add a fourth year to their offer. Now come reports the Spurs could make a run at Barry once they know where they stand with re-signing Manu Ginobili.
We're still in great shape. No way the spurs let Manu go. Besides, Denver (Manu's other option) is going after Kobe and KMart too. I see Barry either staying with Seattle or going to Houston.
what if we loss both barry and fisher, lol. We would be screwed. Have boki run the point. CD better have a backup plan. Its funny how nothing is being heard about fisher. Does he already have a team he signed with, hmm.
If the Spurs want him and he wants to go to the Spurs, we have no shot. They can offer him more or as much money as us and a chance to win a title right now (before we get into any argument over this, keep in mind that where there is Tim Duncan, there are 55 wins. We just don't know what our team is capable of.) I'd rather trade Spoon for Eric Snow and keep the TE and MLE than spend the majority of the MLE on Derek Fisher.
I seriously doubt the Spurs would add Barry AND Kobe. I doubt that Brent Barry would want to be relegated to the bench. It sounds like Barry is the back-up plan in case Ginobili leave or they don't get Kobe Bryant. Ginobili let it be known to the Spurs though that he wants to stay and wants a deal done quickly, at least that's what I read somewhere.
Then I go for plan c, play Lue and Reece as our PG (short and tall, young and old, I think Reece worth a try, anyway, I don't think Rox is going to the final this yr. why don't we give Boki and Reece more playing time.). Don't sign any free agents pg (Plan D) this crazy off season might turn out to be a good thing I wish CD will spend the TE and MLE on a backup C or a decent PF (not overpay ofcuz)
If Barry is talking about staying with Seattle I doubt a championship is the #1 priority. As for Snow, doesn't he have like a 5 year deal about to kick in? There is no way I want anything to do with Snow's contract.
No, a championship may not be the first priority, but staying with teammates he knows and likes, and not having to move his family may be. I think that if he looks to free agency, it will be about money and the chance to win a title. As for Snow's contract... I think we'll be stuck with a bad contract regardless of the player we pick up to play the point. I think we'd win more games right now with Snow than with Fisher. What the hell is that supposed to mean?
It merely questions why Philly would want yet another too short 4, too short in stature and talent in exchange for a starting point guard?
You don't follow the Sixers. Snow's been on the block for months. There haven't been any suitors. Philly won't be starting a traditional PG with AI, Green, and Igoudala. Snow's contract is for 5 more years. Spoon's is for 2 more years. When you can't use a player and his contract is killing you, you trade him for the best player available with a shorter contract. We can use Snow. He's the best defensive PG in the league, has size, and is a better passer than Barry. He's a leader. People who don't want Barry complain about the money he could command and his defense. People who don't want Snow complain about the money he commands and his defense. Obviously, the compromise is Fisher. I, personally, believe that Snow is a superior player, and that we could win more games with him.
I do, some. Plenty, actually. Your points are well taken. Except for the Spoon part. I will humbly eat humble pie if your pie in the sky comes to earth.
