http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/colu.../columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&id=2097694 That didn't take long. Five days into the NBA free agent negotion period and the top name on the list is taken. Insider first reported on Tuesday morning that Allen had agreed to terms with the Sonics on a five-year deal. Other players who have already worked out agreements include Raja Bell (Suns), Chris Andersen (Hornets) and Bostjan Nachbar (Hornets).
At first I thought you were talking about Boki. I was preparing a big MWAHAHAH. I love the guy thoug. When he punked Karla, that will live in my memory forever.
Does anybody by any chance have that video of Boki jamming in Malone's face and blocking him at the other end?
3 year contract. Lots of teams interested? Free agent market is good this year. http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-19/1120283783250990.xml Hornets get a jump on free-agent pair N.O. makes quick offers to Andersen, Nachbar Saturday, July 02, 2005 By John Reid Staff writer On the first day NBA teams could begin negotiating with free agents, the Hornets offered contracts to Chris Andersen and Bostjan Nachbar. Both intend to re-sign with New Orleans later this month, their agents said Friday. Advertisement The Hornets and Andersen, a 6-foot-10 backup center, have agreed to a four-year deal, said agent Steven Heumann. Nachbar, a 6-9 small forward, plans to accept a three-year deal, said agent Herb Rudoy. Hornets general manager Allan Bristow said, under rules set by the NBA, he couldn't discuss any free-agent offers until July 22, when free agents can sign contracts. Andersen, who flaps his arms like bird wings after dunks to excite fans, is one of the Hornets' most popular players. He signed as a free agent with the team before last season after spending three seasons with the Denver Nuggets. Andersen played in 67 games and averaged 7.7 points and 6.1 rebounds. For most of the season, Coach Byron Scott raved about how hard Andersen played when he came off the bench. Andersen opted out of his contract at the end of the season to test free agency, and there was speculation that he was interested in going back to the Nuggets. In the end, Andersen wanted to come back to New Orleans and finish what he started, Heumann said. Three others who played with the Hornets last season -- guards Dan Dickau and Casey Jacobsen and forward Lee Nailon -- are also free agents. Teams could begin negotiating with free agents at 12:01 a.m. Friday. "There were a number of teams that called me at midnight, but Boki's (Nachbar) intention from the beginning was not to leave New Orleans," Rudoy said. "Several other teams saw the same kind of potential, but he told me that he didn't want to talk to anybody else. He wanted to come back to New Orleans. He loves living there and playing for Coach (Scott)." Nachbar was obtained in a midseason trade from the Houston Rockets. He played in 55 games with the Hornets and averaged 8.1 points and 2.8 rebounds. He started four games. It's likely the Hornets will pursue another small forward in free agency. George Lynch is the only small forward under contract with the team. Some of the top available small forwards in free agency are the Los Angeles Clippers' Bobby Simmons, the Portland Trail Blazers' Shareef Abdur-Rahim, the Miami's Heat's Shandon Anderson and the Philadelphia 76ers' Kyle Korver. Another priority for the Hornets could be finding a backup point guard to play spot minutes behind first-round pick Chris Paul and reserve Speedy Claxton. Bristow said Claxton will return next season because there is no team option clause in his contract. Scott said he prefers to have three point guards. Dickau, who started 46 games last season, said Friday morning that he would like to return to the Hornets but plans to explore potential offers from other teams. "I know New Orleans has still got interest," Dickau said. "They picked Chris, who they feel is their guy in the future. Whether or not they want him to start this year, I don't know. But I know one situation that I want is a chance to start." Dickau said he's hired a personal trainer to help get him stronger. "I think anybody would want that opportunity to start, so I'm still open to the opportunity to come back to New Orleans," Dickau said. "Coach Scott is definitely a guy who has helped my career a lot. Allan has been up front and has said they want me back. But I have to see what else is out there." NOTES: The Hornets didn't draft forward Sean Banks this week, but they have put him on their summer-league team that will compete in Las Vegas next week. Banks, a 6-8 forward, had academic problems that forced him off the University of Memphis team during his sophomore year last season. While in high school at Bergen (N.J.) Catholic, he was arrested for allegedly eluding police and assaulting another student. He impressed Hornets coaches in a pre-draft workout last month. . . . David West will play on the summer-league team.
I guess those people that were interested in the Birdman as a possible pf for the Rockets can't be too happy.
wow, the hornets are as stupid as i thought. 4 years for anderson and 3 years for nachbar??? damn, they are worth 1 or 2 year deals but that's it. both of them are only good for bench warmers but the hornets got a couple of "long term" bench warmers.
it's good to see the hornets locking down the core of that title contending team they had last year. over/under on boki's per year amount? i put it at $750,000/yr.
Boki just wants to play. I'm sure he got a decent contract, but nothing that will hinder New Orleans for the future. Go Boki!!!!
