This is pissing me off. Football season is over, stop covering it so damn much! I mean seriously, NFL schedules? Come on it's not even that big of a deal and they have 3 shows + half of Sportscenter devoted to it. NFL Live is on every day at 6:30PM? How the hell do they find stuff to talk about? I realize the draft is coming up, but this is insane. I'm tired of these 5 minute "On the Clock" sessions, do they REALLY have to preview every single team? They could be covering the NBA or NHL right now but instead they cover the NFL offseason... On a side note...please stop riding Daisuke's/Red Sox's and A-Rod's/Yankees' jocks.
i'd rather hear about the nfl offseason and watch old highlights than see anything about the NHL. they have always catered to the stupid red sox and yankees. thats just how it is.
The NFL is in its own stratosphere in terms of popularity. It's not my favorite sport, either...but it's far and away the most popular sport, and perhaps the most popular form of entertainment in our country.
This is the time of year where people like me are trying to get their fix during the offseason. Opening day is still about 5 months away. Doing a show on the schedules may be a bit much but I take whatever I can get.
It's my favorite sport and this country's favorite sport so I love as much news as possible but yes I can see how some feel it's an overkill.
Guys, this all started because of the NFL NETWORK. The NFL NETWORK's presence is putting a lot of pressure on ESPN to try to out cover the NFL. ESPN has no competitors (no FSN doesn't count), but the NFL Network is the closest competitor they have and with the NFL being the #1 sport, ESPN is doing all it can to make sure people don't change the channel for their NFL news. I love football so I don't mind the extra NFL coverage, especially if it takes the place of baseball or nascar coverage. I agree though, I would like to see more NBA coverage, especially as we get closer to the playoffs.
NHL? are you serious? I'd rather watch a replay of the Arizona Cardinals v. Cleveland Browns ca. 2001 than watch the most spectacular highlight reel of the NHL any time of any day. the NFL is also not my favorite sport...
Come on!!! It's football!!! The draft is coming up in a few weeks!!! If you don't watch football, that's ok. I love it, because I am a man and real men say they watch football.
They barely do any NBA coverage. The playoffs are right here and still nothing. Just the occasional game highlight of Kobe and then an hour later we got Swin Cash doing the "Three D's!!!" how exciting. I can already see the Finals ending and ESPN doing a 15 second highlight of game 7 and then switch to NFL.
Well you only have to put up with it for 6 more months. See that little thing sitting on the armrest? It's a remote. Change the ****ing channel.
If I had the choice of watching either an NHL game or old SuperBowl highlights, I'll pick the old SuperBowl highlights. Hell, I would rather watch every game of the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers season before watching any NHL games.
LOL, how can we? who the hell turns the channel to VS? The NHL made a HUGE blunder in leaving ESPN for Comcast's VS channel. That sport is TOTALLY under-exposed right now. Ever look at the seal that's on the cover of Sporting News magazine? It says "NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR" They used to have the NHL on there. NASCAR!?!? Now no one cares about the NHL because no one can find it. NHL playoff hockey is very good....but we'll never see it. You would have thought the NHL would have learned it's lessen in the 80's when they went away from ESPN to SportsChannel. Ridiculous!
Its a ratings game... and right now, the NBA plays third-fiddle in most major media markets in the country (including this city).
ESPN is to sports and sports fans as MTV is to music and music lovers. Both networks are in serious need of competition in their market to improve their show standards.
Honestly, I think ESPN's NFL coverage is pretty damn good. I also like their baseball coverage. Their basketball is lacking... but you have TNT picking up the slack there. And unlike MTV, at least ESPN still has sports... does MTV still have music videos?
