http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=FourQuarters-071113 Hmm, this guy doesn't have all his facts right. But I too hope Yao can step up big in this year's playoff
He got that fact wrong, but I couldn't agree with the overall message more. If Tracy starts a game 13 of 15, or 7 of 7, he will definately get atleast 24 shots. Fortunately, during the Bobcats game, Tmac got his shot going and wisely started taking it to the rack. Tracy is still out best player, but Yao should be our anchor when he is on and has the advantage. Dallas and San Antonio have no answer for him. I assume that these will be the teams we have to beat if we want to win a championship. We can't waste his good nights by launching up jumpers or not getting him the ball. All in all, i'm not complaining or anything, because I am impressed with our start.
that's mainly because he has to depend on his teammates to get him the ball. He should have had about 45 against the Bobcats, but Tracy took over the game.
its hard to ride yao to victory because its so difficult getting him the ball if teams are determined to deny him. hes been fronted for years and its always resulted in forced entry passes and horrible turnovers. judging from the bobcats game, adelman seems to have a much better grasp than jvg of how to find alternative ways of getting yao the ball.
I agree. I honestly think that as he gets more comfortable and gets more trust from his teammates, that Scola can make a big difference in creatively getting Yao the ball.
The article may need a fact check but it is on the money. I especially like the Kareem comparison since 80's Kareem is probably the best historical comparison to Yao: big and strong, not very quick or athletic, good jumper, great finesse post game relying on turnaround jumpers and jump hooks but also can use a power post game at times, struggles on defense against quick players but great help defender and shot blocker. Our only loss came in a game where Yao could not get the ball and McGrady jacked up 35 shots. This situation has been fixed since that game. By the end of the season it will be obvious that Yao is the best player on the team. McGrady was on fire the first two games but he is no different than last year.
Tracy is still our best player and will be for a few years IMO. If you don't notice the difference in Tracy this year and last year, I really have to question how much you watch the rockets. Dude looks healthy. I still agree with Yao getting more touches tho.
unfortunately, you're not watching the games. he's "looking" like he's he same from the first 3 games b/c we're not using him the same way. adelman has repeatedly said to the houston chron that tmac WILL be moving around more as the team gets better w/ the offense. right now he's more of a playmaker so u see a dip in scoring. but c'mon, tmac already is averaging 1 dunk a game; going to the ft line more consistently, only has had 2 bad shooting games... unfortunately, you don't see that. tmac has sacrificed his offense to get this team more involved and balance. he said it. adelman said it. by next month, u should see more 30+ pt explosions from him (if scola/james/ get better w/ the offense)
TMAC will never be "healthy", he has a bad back. It can blow out at anytime on the smallest of impacts.
