    But only a pitiful 3 votes... :(

I never expect Scola and Battier to win but come on not even a single honorary mention between them?!

Garnett should certainly get some consideration for Defensive POY but he doesn't guard the other team's best player every night. That alone makes Battier a better candidate. Scoop Jackson picking Josh Smith as his DPOY is a downright joke.

I can't believe Scola couldn't get one vote, especially with the way he is playing lately.

I saw Mike Dunleavy voyed for Most Improved. I never thought of him, but that is a GREAT choice for that award.

I know these are no where near official and it's just ESPN, but it's sad looking at how clueless most of the media is.

Smith has the pretty "stats". Though I don't think he should have any consideration what so ever.

I am not surprised at KG getting all the DPOY votes.. its like they "HAD" to give him something since they weren't voting for him as MVP. And he is a good defender on a good defensive team.

Shane had better be on the All D team though or heads are going to roll!

Most of the awards, other than Most Improved, seem close to unanimous. I think this is a pretty good predictor for who'll win:

    MVP - Kobe Bryant
    DPOY - Kevin Garnett
    6th Man - Manu Ginobili
    COY - Byron Scott
    ROY - Kevin Durant
    MIP - Hedo Turkoglu

It's hard to argue with any of those.

I personally think 6th man award is a joke if it goes to someone who is playing over 25 minutes a game. 6th man should be...the 6th man, not some baldy who comes off the bench just because "it makes him better"

Watching NBA FastBreak right now...TV "experts" are a riot.

Greg Anthony called the MVP a Lifetime Achievement Award...give me a break.

Why are Byron Scott, Phil Jackson, and Doc Rivers even MENTIONED in the coach of the year race? Their records are great because of their players.

Byron Scott looks good with Chris Paul becoming a SUPERSTAR.

Phil Jackson stole Pau Gasol without giving up Kobe, Bynum, Odom, Farmar, Vujacic, Radmonovic...basically they just gave up their weak links for a strength.

Doc Rivers got KG, Ray Allen, and some great role players in Posey, PJ Brown, Eddie House, and Sam Cassell.

Adelman deserves coach of the year for these reasons:

-It's his first year coaching the Rockets.

-Many of the offseason pickups have failed. Yet he made the correct adjustments and got the Rockets to 2 games better than last year.

-22 games in a row. Not just because of that remarkable number, but how it came about. Lose Yao in the middle of the streak, we continued to win.

-Currently, playing for HCA with 1 (arguably .5 due to nagging injuries) superstar in McGrady.

They say Doc Rivers deserves it because it takes "skill" to handle 3 superstar egos...not if your superstars are nice to begin with. KG, Allen, and Pierce all have been on losing teams for a while. It's easy to handle their egos and motivation as a coach knowing that.

Adelman had the Rockets on a high during the win streak. Then they lose Yao. You have to be one HELL of a coach to get that team together and respond the way they did. you lose your main cog and still play at a high level continuing to win games? Kudos to Rick Adelman.

Too many blind, ignorant, bias haters.

In addition to Clutch Citizen's remarks I have noticed that the ESPN guys claim Kobe should be MVP because his team sustained injuries. That Kobe prevailed despite all the injuries while Chris Paul had help.

Wait a second... Isn't the Lakers record without either Gasol or Bynum in the lineup pretty bad? Meaning Kobe didn't really carry his team during the adversity. They lost games! I don't get it.

Another argument is that he overcome all the offseason drama to achieve success. Umm... He created all that offseason drama! And what does the offseason have to do with the MVP anyway? In my opinion he should be punished for his childish actions and not rewarded with praise.

When Yao went out McGrady continued the streak to 22 games. Kobe's team falls off the face of the earth when either Gasol or Bynum is out. Look how much better Gasol makes Odom by allowing him to become a facilitator/rebounder rather than the second option. Kobe isn't the glue.

And this isn't about McGrady. Its about Chris Paul. He is unquestionably the MVP. Its sad that they are going to deny him to give Kobe the award for the sake of giving him the award. Lets give the MVP to the Lakers, the DPOY to the Celtics, it will be real cute. Hopefully they'll matchup in the finals. Oh, yay, how cute... Jesus

 When Gasol or Bynum were in the lineup the Lakers have had the #1 seed.

The Lakers were a .500 team without BOTH Gasol AND BYNUM, thats not really falling off the face of the earth.

And stop the McGrady to Kobe comparisons, we know who the better player is.

Losing to the Bobcats and Grizzlies at home, back to back, is like falling off the face of the solar system.

The Lakers beat the Mavs and the Jazz.
    Back to Back
    AWAY both times!

    Without Bynum AND Gasol.

I really don't get you guys, you expect the Lakers to win without two of their starters? Fisher and Odom were injured when they played the bobcats and grizzlies but they just had to play through it..

Plus Kobe himself is injured on his pinky but I guess that doesn't matter.

 The 6th man is supposed to be the first guy off the bench - the most important guy not in the starting 5. If you can't get 25 minutes off the bench, I don't know if you're much of a 6th man.

I think what he meant is that the 6th man should be a real bench player. Guys like Ginobili aren't real bench player. They play starter minutes. He is a "6th" man only because he is not playing in the first minute of games.

I agree that these people shouldn't count as "6th men" because they are not really 6th on their team. Ginobili is at least 3rd, maybe 2nd on their team. How can he win the "6th man" award?

Answer me this question: How many games would Byron Scott have won without Chris Paul?

Okay, you just made my argument for who I think should be Coach of the Year. It's amazing that Adelman winning 54-55 games apparently can't hold a candle to the Hornets winning 1-2 more games playing without any injuries.
