I know that Ernie had some health problems last year. I'm not even sure what they were, but they are still not doing any close-ups of him on the TNT basketball show. Does anybody know what happened with him? Just curious... I'm very glad he's still working, but what could be so bad that they won't even show his face in any kind of close-up?
He had cancer. As far as I know he's fine. Why would they really show a close up of the anchor? He's not there for his opinions, but rather to guide the discussion among the two or three analysts that are in studio on a given night. I can't think of why they would really focus the camera on him.
I think Ernie is healthy now. They might no do close ups of him because the guy is not really much to look at. Sometimes it is that simple.
Before he got sick they would show close-ups and two-shots all the time. Since he got sick they only show him in panoramic shots with the other three. It's a sad commentary on the audience, I guess.
