If the Rockets beat Portland they'll be 0.500 and still last in the division. Has that has ever happened before this deep into a season?

For comparison, the other last place teams in each division are:
    Toronto 16-44
    Cleveland 11-48
    Washington 15-43
    Minnesota 14-46
    Sacramento 14-43

Are you implying we get rid of this useless division system? That would be the day.

No it's never happened, these small divisions have only been around for 7 seasons now.

I don't think it's ever happened before, but it's gotten close in years past in the Southwest, which has proven time and time again to be the most competitive division in basketball. Memphis was always close to getting to .500 but always fell short at the end of the season. This year, with the improvement of Memphis, it is very possible as long as we hold up our end of the bargain....but do we want to?

Didn't it come pretty damn close to happening in our division last season, and we were all above .500 fairly late in the season? Thought so at least.

Well I guess Memphis finished 8 games under last year, and New Orleans under .500 as well, so maybe it wasn't as close as I thought.

But on a side note, everyone in the Northwest division had 50+ wins last season, except for Minnesota. That's pretty damn impressive.

Another surprise would be if all 5 teams made the playoffs...

Hopefully Utah continues to struggle so this could be possible.

It just means that our division is the toughest most competitive division in the NBA.

It has been for a while. The Southwest and Northwest divisions have been consistently good. I don't care how many superstars are in the East, it's still impossible to get a seed here, whereas it's almost impossible not to get the 7th or 8th seed in the East.

That makes San Antonio's record even more impressive. I don't know why they are not the favorites to make it out of the western conference.

They are for me, by a fair margin. I'd say that they should be pretty prohibitive favorites to win it all at this point.
