Team USA had quite a battle in their olympic quarter-final matchup with the Russian squad. In the midst of it all "half amazing, half imbecile" managed to score a reprimand from coach Rudy T.

    The incident:
With just 10 seconds to go in the first half, Carter skied for an offensive rebound over the back of a Russian center. The Russian also jumped and unfortunately his shoulder collected Vince in a rather tender area and Vince crashed heavily to the ground holding himself. Whether it was intentional or not I didn't notice (although it certainly seemed innocent at first glance) - if it was, well it's no worse than the way Carter has tried to "intimidate" opponents throughout the tournament.

Carter managed to fight through the pain and got up off the ground as the half time hooter sounded. Instead of grumbling and going to the locker room to plot his revenge, Carter travelled AWAY from the players tunnel to mid court and accosted one of the Russian guards and started a game of pushings and shovings - clearly Rudy decided that he'd had enough and physically escorted
Carter to the players tunnel entrance while telling him to cool it. Carter played sparingly in the second half.

Naturally the crowd responded to Carters great display of self control by soundly booing him from the court and on every subsequent touch. Interestingly enough it seems that Carters game isn't so hot when the crowd is on his back. He shot poorly when open and REALLY struggles from the FT line when beeing booed, and has trouble keeping his head in the game when opponents play him physically.

Clearly Rudy has seen this, and hopefully the Rockets will play a physical game when the Raptors come visiting. And if the Compaq center can bring the boo down on Carter then he'll probably struggle for form!

Carter is so overated. He has some big dunks and everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

With no one else to help him out with scoring in Toronto, I look for Carter to struggle this season.

    BobFinn*,

Ummmm, one big difference between Olympic basketball and NBA basketball is .... NBA REFEREES.

So, don't forget that when factoring in how bad of a season you expect Carter to have.

I wasn't a big Carter fan to begin with, and with his idiocy in the Olympics, I'm even less of one. But, the NBA still wants a darling and he's it for now.

What Dreamer you mean they actually referee on the game instead of based on the players reputation and popularity.

    I think that's EXACTLY DREAMer's point Smeg!!

Vince will get protected by the referees and made to look good!

What's really interesting is his future with Team USA. Will he get selected for the world championships? After Coleman and Kemp got "busted" for their "bad attitudes" in the '94 world championships they were banned from playing for the US again, will the same measure be used for Vince? I doubt it.

exactly how many jordan wannabes are there supposed to be? I wish the freakin NBA would quit trying to find a new Jordan and promote individual players for who they are. Players like Ray Allen and Rahim might be some of the best, but yet the NBA couldnt care less about them. NBA could learn a thing or two from the NFL about marketing.

Vince is a circus show and that's about it. He hasn't led his team anywhere and based on his recent playoff showing, isn't prepared to do so this year either.
