What providers do you guys have? I just bought a house so I figure my electricity bill will make a difference now (compared to my $50 apt bill).

I have Reliant now but I have heard some folks mention Gexa and a couple other places.

    Thanks..........

I work for them. Come on over and improve our stock price.

Seriously, go to http://www.powertochoose.org/ and do some comparison shopping. All the significant providers are there and you can compare prices. And the website shows information about the source-mix of the electricity and how dirty it is -- if that is important to you.

Anyway, to answer your question, I use Gexa. They charge me something like 10.5 cents, but the rates have gone up since then. Ironically, winter costs me more than summer because my house is on piers and I lose a ton of heat through my tile floors.

Pick any random company and you can do better than Reliant. Customer service for some of the smaller start-ups might maybe possibly be worse than Reliant, but that's about the only real advantage they offer.

The power to choose website is great. Just make sure to look up any new company with the Better Business Bureau.

I switched to Amigo in the Spring. My rates dropped about 30% compared to First Choice.

Not sure why anyone would stay with Reliant. Last I checked (its been a few months), they have the highest rate. I see no advantage in staying with them.

Just don't be fooled by those salesman that come by your house and try to get you to switch your energy provider. They'll come by offering this great rate, but they'll f*ck you later on.
