I know the season hasn't officially ended yet, but I thought we could start a list of Rockets End of Season Award Winners.

    MVP: Francis. Hands down

MIP: Mobley. He was going to be good, but 19ppg good?

6th Man: Kenny Thomas. Would have been Cat, but he started alot of games. Mooch in a close 2nd.

    ROY: Inconclusive.

DPY: Olajuwon. Still a presence inside.

Most dissapointing player: Tie- Cato and Mo. Wasn't Cato going to lead the league in rebounds? Mo should stop being generous and grab some rebounds for himself sometime.

Game of the year: vs. Indiana- 3OT. Maybe the game @Philly.

Biggest heart: Francis. Considering that he could average alot more points, he passes the ball alot.

Smallest heart: Cato. Does it need an explanation?

If anyone has any comments or wants to add to this list, please feel free.

If you consider Cato, who is making 6-7 million dollars per season, doing nothing on the floor, playing lousy defense and pathetic offense, and whining to be equal in disappointment to Mo you really are clueless. Rudy and the team has been thrilled with Mo this season, and I have as well. Rudy didn't expect him to be a big time rebounder, and if you expected a big time rebounder, scorer, defender, and the whole mix for 2.25 M you need to reevaluate your standards. Mo has bailed us out repeatedly in one on one situations, has been our only consistent big man scorer, and his outside jumper has really stretched the defenses. He also plays good defense. I am very very pleased with Mo Taylor this season, but to consider him equal on level of disappointment with Cato is borderline insane.

What does passing the ball have to do with heart?

That would mean John Stockton has the biggest heart in league history. He does pass the ball alot.

I agree with Cat. Mo's not a big dissapointment.

I'm more dissapointed with SA and Cato than Mo.

The Rockets are 20-12 since the all star break. That translates to about 52-53 wins next season, if they play at that level all year.

I'm not miffed about the Rockets this season, they are only in their 2nd year of rebuilding, so great progress to actually contend for the playoffs already. Looking forward to next season!

Sorry, but I had to jump in here too. Collier has done just as much or more than Cato this year. Are you saying that before the season you had bigger hopes for Collier than Cato THIS SEASON? While Collier may be better over the longhaul, I don't think there were any of us before this season started that expected more out of him than Cato. I know you don't like him, but I don't see any way any other player (except Shandon possibly) can rank even close to as big a bust as Cato.

IMO you can't call a rookie a bust. It always takes time for a rookie to get accustomed to the league. Collier wasn't even expected to do that much for us.

Do you think Larry Hughes and Crawford are busts too?

Damn, thanks BGM! I forgot about that one. If Collier's a bust, what is your boy Crawford? Collier has definitely shown a lot more toward becoming a solid NBA player than Crawford has.

I can admit when I'm wrong. Putting Mo and Cato on the level was stupid of me. I only
meant to say that Mo has been dissappointing on the fact that he hasn't been rebounding as much as I would have like him to. Offensively he has been fine.

Sorry if I 'offended' anyone with that comment, I didn't mean to.

If getting Webber only nets us an extra 5 wins, then what's the point of forking over $90 million for 5 wins at $18 million per win. If Les gives me the money instead, I would only bring 5 fewer wins to the Rocks than Webber, plus I would bring an added bonus of good karma in the form of dispensing quality water. Hell, I might even feel generous and tell Les to save some money because I would accept a dual position of a player and ball boy.

Ok lets not get carried away here. You can't
put Jason Collier's name anywhere near Larry Hughes' name. And if I had to pick between Crawford and Collier that would be a no brainer.

Oh yeah coming in the game dropping every pass thrown to you and getting your shot block every other time really shows alot of promise. When Crawford gets in the game he
breaks the defense down and can jump out the gym. And remember he is only 19yrs old.

So that would be who? I sure don't know, and from watching both this season I'd probably rather have Collier on my team. Crawford hasn't shown in any capacity that he will be or is better than Collier to this point, and until he does I suggest you don't say he's clearly better.

Hughes shoots 38 % from the field. He's a shooting guard. What has he done?

Collier shot 38% too this season. If your starting SG shoots as well as another teams 3rd string C, you've got problems.

Ok, whatever dude. When Collier was healthy, he was consistently getting 8-10 ppg and 3 rpg when given the backup center role. Show me a backup center who is really doing that much better this year. Watching the Bulls I've yet to see Crawford break down a defense-- if he was don't you think the Bulls would play him over Fred Hoiberg and Bryce Drew? And who cares if he can jump out of the gym, I can find people at the Olympics who can do that. Doesn't mean they belong in the NBA. What you said about Crawford breaking down defenses, etc. may have been true at Michigan, but he hasn't shown it at all in the NBA, and you have nothing solid to back up the claim that he's better than Collier.

Huh? There were only 4 games all season where Collier scored 8 points or more so I have a hard time there with the word "consistently".
    <a href="http://www.clutchcity.net/playerinfo_current.cfm?PlayerID=202">Collier's game-by-game stats</a>

I think it's too early to make any kind of conclusions on Collier.

Also, while I in no way consider Mo Taylor to be a "bust" of any kind, making excuses for his poor rebounding and saying fans can't expect more from a $2.25 million player makes no sense. We all know Mo came in to this for a big payday... this is a trial season for a fat contract. If he wants to continue to be a $2.25 million player, I have no problems with the rebounding.

It's not only defense and rebounding though -- he needs to work on staying out of foul trouble.

I doubt he would pay Webber 90 mil in one season. So, assuming that we get 5 more wins for however long the contract would be for, say at least 5 years, then that is 25 wins. We would be getting a lot more bang for our buck... though I would be willing to bet we a hell of a lot more improved than 5 games next season and the following seasons if we land Webber.
