MY grandmother died on my 16th birthday in 1988. There was a lot about her that I never knew. She lived most of her life in and around Cleveland Texas and in the fifties she had a private photography studio. she would often get summoned by the Cleveland newspaper to shoot photos of different events. This weekend my mom was going through some of the old photos and she found one that my Grandma took of Elvis presley eating at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel in Cleveland. I don't know exactly when it was or why he was in Cleveland but I scanned it in and touched it up and I thought if there were any Elvis fans you might appreciate this photo.

Personally the things that stand out about it are his broach (sp?), his half eaten omelet, and his mussled hair. It seems so personal for some reason.

    Anyway, thought I'd share.

On the edit I shrank it down...sorry.

Very Cool. I used to play in a band in Los Angeles whose drummer was the son of Don Robertson, the songwriter who wrote "Please Help Me I'm Falling" as well as tunes for a couple of Elvis' movies. I was never really into Elvis before then, but playing with this drummer piqued my interest in Elvis, especially the Sun Records/pre-army Elvis. That is a fantastic photo.

thanks. we have a new CD out. It's a Comets tribute CD and that song is hidden on there. After about 45 seconds of silence following the Jeff Hagedorn techno song that plays. I think it's funny but I have an odd sense of humor.

It's always so weird whenever one of these 15+ year old threads gets bumped.

So many posters lost over time :(

i too have been listening to elvis more than i ever have over the last couple years. the sun records stuff is incredible and the live album of his '68 comeback - he is a man on fire in that one.

if you have HBO there is a terrific two part documentary on elvis called "the searcher".

and if youre at all a fan of music bios then i would highly recommend peter guralnicks two volume elvis book. its one of the best, most well researched and most comical music bios ive ever read. ive actually only read pt II, which starts with him joining the army. elvis was quite a character behind the scenes. so many hilarious, salacious and outrageous stories. but i also got a new respect for his musicianship. his story is also sad - he was very insecure and shy and had people like col. tom taking advantage of him. its sad b/c his best years were squandered by doing all those s***ty movies. he didnt perform live from 1960-1968.

I love the way the girls are screaming the entire time dude can melt panties like cutting warm butter ..dude has the most charisma and swag I've ever seen..
He didn't write his own songs. So what his voice is legit.

I'm actually more surprised I couldn't find an Elvis thread here. Unless I missed it. Tsk tsk cf.

Merry Christmas everyone and blue Christmas is the best Christmas song not even close. A hill I will die on
